I was very impressed with the new Siri up to the moment I tried it. It is embarrassing how bad it is, considering the size of Apple and the funds they have for R&D
Yeah, Ternus isn’t going to cripple and hold back iOS and the iPad like Tim did all these years.
AI helped me resume my 2000 page comment into a more english friendly smaller comment but I think it's important to know:
The 8GB Apple Intelligence devices (like the iPad Air M3 11") will still support most of the new AI features, including Photos editing tools, Image Playground, Writing Tools, and improved system-wide dictation compared to older devices.
The main limitations for 8GB devices are on the more advanced on-device AI models, such as the highest-tier speech and voice generation features and the most advanced transcription model that will be available only in 12GB devices.
It’s also worth noting that, at least for now, the EU rollout is more limited. The new Siri “personal assistant” features that can interact across apps and use user data (like Mail, Messages, Calendar, etc.) are delayed there, so they won’t be available in Europe at launch (data privacy EU laws). This doesn’t affect general AI tools like changes to Photos, writing assistance, and many other features.
So overall, you still get a lot or most of the new AI features in the EU, just not the deeper Siri stuff that connects everything across your apps, and regarding memory, only the 12GB devices will have the most advanced transcription model.

Am I supposed to be impressed because Apple can do enhanced searches on my existing information? Isn't it just an integration with OpenAI? I'm not interested in anything AI from Apple since they're not making it themselves. Improve the iPad itself give us more features give us more control

Not impressed by any of the Siri features. I can't imagine ever needing them.
I’ve got 2 cameras out front (ones a door bell) both Aqara (great for HomeKit btw) I really like the way it transitions from one camera to the other when someone walks by or a car goes by and back again , has any one else noticed this ?

Apple are still, since a couple of years, selling products with the incentive it will work with "apple" intelligence but new Siri will not work within the EU for years so if you want AI buy an android. Works in the EU…
what if you approve a contact for you kid and then when they want to reach out to someone they don’t want you to know about they just amend the approved contact with new numbers?
Are there different Siri’s depending on how you beckon her? Either by using these Siri app, or saying hey Siri, or swiping down from the top of the iPad screen? Do they all sync between different devices?
Interestingly, they never showed examples of onboard advanced dictation and Siri expressiveness that they said requires the advanced M chips and 12 GB of RAM. It’s my understanding that the two aren’t working. I hope these aren’t shades of their 2024 over promises?
Can we finally rotate the screen on external monitors!?!??
