We compared the “Sky Blue” of the 13-inch MacBook Air with M4 that I recently purchased, with the “Silver” of the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 and the “Sierra Blue” of the Sierra Blue of the iPhone 13 Pro.
The MacBook Air’s Sky Blue is a color similar to the back panel of the iPhone 13 Pro’s Sierra Blue, depending on the amount of light it hits.
Comparison with “Silver” of M3-equipped MacBook Pro
We compared the “Sky Blue” of the 13-inch MacBook Air with M4 and the “Silver” of the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 under the same environment (LED lighting indoors, mirrorless single-lens camera).
Compare the top and bottom surfaces, MacBook Air has no model name engraved
The right side is the Sky Blue 13-inch MacBook Air with M4, and the left side is the Silver 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3.
Sky Blue alone may look silver depending on the amount of light, but the difference is obvious when comparing it side by side with silver in the same environment.
The bottom of the M3-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro is engraved with the “MacBook Pro” but the M4-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air does not have the model name engraved.
Differences in terminals for both models
The left side of the M4-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air has a MagSafe charging terminal and two USB-C terminals, while the M3-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro also has a headphone terminal.
In addition, the height of the M4-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air is 1.13cm, and the M3-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro is 4.2mm different from 1.55cm, and it is clear in comparison photos, and you can feel it even more when you hold it in your hand.
On the right side, the M4-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air only has a headphone jack, while the M3-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro has an HDMI jack and an SD card slot.
The M3-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro has an airflow hole at the bottom of the side, but the M4-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air does not have one.
Keyboard (top cover) design is different
Even taking into account the differences in auto white balance, the Sky Blue on the M4-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air is darker than the Silver on the M3-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro on the left.
If the “Space Gray” lineup was included in the 13-inch M4 MacBook Air, depending on the lighting, you might not have felt much of a difference from the “Sky Blue.”
While the keyboard of the M3-equipped 14-inch MacBook Pro is black except for the keytops, the M4-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air is the same color as the housing.
Comparison with “Sierra Blue” on iPhone 13 Pro
As expected, the iPhone 13 Pro’s Sierra Blue is the most similar color for the Apple product I own.
However, while the M4-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air has anodized surfaces using aluminum alloy, the iPhone 13 Pro is made of stainless steel and has a glossy finish, so the atmosphere is different.
The curvature of the corners of both products is the same, which shows Apple’s commitment to rounded corners.
