The magnet placement and speaker shape inside the iPad Pro (M4) and previous iPad Pros have been reported.
The design of the iPad Pro (M4) doesn’t look different from previous models, but inside, the magnet placement and speaker shape are very different.
The number of magnets arranged is also different, and it may be that the adsorption force between the Apple Pencil Pro and iPad Pro (M4) is stronger, making it harder to fall.
Magnet and speaker placement inside iPad Pro (M4)
YouTuber Marques Brownlee visualized the internal magnet arrangement of the iPad Pro (M4) and previous iPad Pros using magnetic paper that responds to magnetism.
Additionally, the shape and size of the speaker has also been revealed.
Compare old and new models
For example, on the left side of the image below is the magnet arrangement of the old iPad Pro, and the speaker is oval.
On the other hand, if you check the magnet placement of the iPad Pro (M4) in the same position, it is completely different, and the speaker has been changed to a round shape.
Magnet arrangement for attracting Apple Pencil has been patented
The magnetic arrangement on the side of the iPad Pro to attract the Apple Pencil was also described in the documents Apple submitted when it filed a patent application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
In this report as well, you can see in the reported image that a magnet is placed at position 117 in Figure 1A above.
Apple Pencil Pro may be less likely to fall off unintentionally
In the iPad Pro (M4) shown at the top of the image below, two magnets are placed in each location on the Apple Pencil adsorption area.
In contrast, the previous model only has one.
The magnetic force per magnet is unknown, but if it’s about the same, the adsorption force between the Apple Pencil Pro and iPad Pro (M4) may be stronger, making it harder for them to fall off.
In the future, we will verify and report the above hypothesis using an actual machine.
