The iPhone 15 Pro, which I started using in October 2023, will be about 3 years old in September 2026. The maximum battery capacity has increased to 84% and the number of charging/discharging times has increased to 713 times, but considering the performance, camera, storage, and main unit condition, I don’t feel like I want to replace it right away.
This time, based on actual measurements and daily usage, I will clarify whether the iPhone 15 Pro, which I have used for about 3 years, is still active and how much longer I can use it.
Maximum capacity is 84% and the condition is “normal” even after 713 times
The maximum capacity of the battery confirmed on the settings screen is 84%, and the number of charging and discharging times is 713. The status display remains “normal”. As long as I work from home, I don’t feel any major dissatisfaction.
The problem is when I go out. If you go out at 100% at 8am, it may drop to 20-30% by 2pm. This is not a strict actual measurement, but an experience value on days when using work, AI chat, SNS, chat services, etc.
I have the impression that it decreases even faster if I move while playing YouTube with the screen on. My life revolves around working from home, so it hasn’t affected my daily use so far.

No dissatisfaction with performance after using it for about 3 years for work and AI use
I mainly use it for work, interacting with AI such as ChatGPT, SNS, and various chat services, but I haven’t noticed any slowdowns. I don’t feel like the app startup has changed much since I started using it, and at least for my purposes, there are no situations where I feel like I want to replace it due to processing performance.
Regarding heat generation, the main unit may become warm to a certain extent while charging. It’s not so hot that it feels like it’s hot, and there are only a few interesting scenes. The camera also has no problems for everyday photography and use at work.
The storage uses 91.99GB out of 128GB, which is about 72%. Still, I don’t feel like I’m running out of storage at this point, and I’m not in a situation where capacity is a reason to replace it.

No major problems for about 3 years even after being dropped many times.
I have experienced falling countless times. However, there are currently no major problems with the display, buttons, or terminals. I have been using the case and protective film regularly for about 3 years.
I used to use a clear case, but I change it every time I notice yellowing. I changed to a Muji case about 2 weeks ago and am currently using the dark gray one.
I’m not saying that if you use a case and film, it will never break, but I haven’t had any major problems with this operation for about 3 years.
Reasons for not rushing to replace even if a new model comes out
The new model has some advanced features, but at this point there is nothing that makes me want to buy a new model. If I had to complain about the battery in my current usage environment, it would be the battery, but since I mostly work from home, I’m not in a hurry to replace it at this point.
The price is also high, and it is also important that it is not an amount that you can easily afford. The reliability and familiar operating feel that I have gained from using the iPhone for many years remains unchanged, and I think there is a high possibility that I will choose the iPhone the next time I buy a new one. However, my current decision is that I don’t feel it’s necessary right now.
4 points to check before replacing your purchase
After using the iPhone 15 Pro for about 3 years, I feel that “Are you having trouble now?” is more directly connected to the decision to replace than “How many years have you used it?”
| item | Author’s current situation |
| battery | Maximum capacity 84% / 713 times / I’m concerned about the decrease when going out |
| Processing performance | No dissatisfaction with work, AI, and SNS usage |
| storage | No shortage even when using 91.99GB/128GB |
| Body condition | No major problems |
Of the four items, the only one I’m concerned about is the battery. There are no problems with the remaining 3 items, so there is no reason to replace it now.
It will be easier to make a decision if you first check the battery, processing performance, storage, and main unit condition to see if there are any problems you are having before considering purchasing a new one.
iPhone 15 Pro seems to be usable for at least another year
There are no problems with performance, camera, storage, or main unit condition that would force me to buy a new one right away. The battery has dropped to 84%, which can sometimes make me feel uneasy when I go out, but it’s within an acceptable range given my current lifestyle of working from home.
In my case, I feel that I can use it for at least another year. The trigger for purchasing a new device in the future is when the battery gets worse, when OS support changes, when a new feature comes out that makes you want to buy it, or when a simple change of mood occurs.
At the moment, none of these apply, and the iPhone 15 Pro is still in use.
