Apple said that to achieve full-speed fast charging of this new iPhone, it needs to be paired with its 40-watt dynamic power adapter (peak output 60 watts) and USB-C data cable. This combination allows the phone to reach the highest charging rate, which is about 33% faster than the previous Pro model.
According to IT House, with the support of 60-watt charging specifications, the iPhone 18 Pro only takes about 15 minutes to charge from zero to 50%. In comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro takes about 5 minutes longer to complete the same charge.
In addition, Apple claims that at this fast charging rate, it only takes 5 minutes of quick recharging to provide about 6 hours of video playback time.
Specifically, Apple’s official iPhone 18 fast charging parameter requirements are: the charger must support 60 watt output, comply with the USB PD 3.1 standard, and have an adjustable voltage output function. Apple’s 40-watt dynamic power adapter is the only charger currently on the market that meets all requirements.
MacBook chargers are typically 96 watts or 140 watts, but do not have adjustable voltage output.
There are also many third-party charging heads on the market with power exceeding 40 watts, such as Anker’s 45-watt charger. According to speculation, the performance of the iPhone 18 Pro with this type of charger should be the same as that of the iPhone 17 Pro. It takes about 20 minutes to charge from zero to 50%. It is still very fast for emergency use.
In terms of wireless charging, when paired with Apple’s MagSafe charger and any 35-watt charging head, iPhone 18 Pro can be charged from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes.
iPhone 18 Pro will be available for pre-sale this Saturday, with the first batch of products shipping on September 18. Apple’s foldable screen model iPhone Duo will be launched next month. As long as it is paired with the corresponding accessories mentioned above, it will also support the same fast charging rate as the iPhone 18 Pro.
