IT House reported on September 2 that Apple changed coaches yesterday (September 1) and entered the “Ternus Era”. John Ternus succeeded Tim Cook as Apple’s CEO, and Cook became executive chairman on the same day.
IT House reported yesterday that Cook sent an emotional memo to Apple employees as CEO. This farewell letter reviewed Cook’s time at Apple and expressed his expectations for Ternus.
Ternus sent his first internal memo to all employees on his first day in office, saying it was his “first day” as CEO and thanked employees for their “warm wishes.” He emphasized in the letter that Cook shared a lot of knowledge and experience during the transition period, and more importantly, his many years of contribution to Apple.
Ternus’s first memo was brief, just four paragraphs. He called Apple “the greatest company in the world” and expressed “equal excitement” about its future product pipeline. The letter clearly mentioned: “We will have a huge launch next week, which will definitely be phenomenal.”
On my first day as CEO, I wanted to send a quick email to thank everyone for their best wishes. I also want to sincerely thank Tim for sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience during this transition and, more importantly, for his contributions to Apple over the years.
We are very lucky to have such a values-oriented, high-moral, and humanistic CEO. We have all benefited greatly from this and I am extremely grateful that he will serve as our Executive Chairman.

According to Apple’s official website updated yesterday, Ternus joined Apple’s product design team in 2001 and was promoted to vice president of hardware engineering in 2013. In 2021, he joined Apple’s executive team as senior vice president of hardware engineering.
During his tenure at Apple, Ternus oversaw the hardware development of multiple breakthrough products and played an important role in the birth of multiple new product lines, including iPad, AirPods, and multiple iPhones, Macs and Apple Watches.
Ternus has long promoted the development of Apple products toward reliability and durability. He introduced many innovative technologies to give Apple products excellent durability.
Apple officially announced that it will hold an autumn new product launch conference on September 9, local time (1 a.m. on September 10, Beijing time), with the theme of “Surprise and shine”.
This will be John Ternus’s first press conference after he officially takes over as Apple CEO on September 1. It is expected to launch a new generation of iPhone 18 Pro/Max and a new Ultra series of folding screen machines.
