With all the comments about Apple CarPlay for the Can Am Spyders, mostly negative, we thought we would do a 101 set up video for you guys. Complicated maybe, you need a few things to get it working, if you don’t have them all then that’s where it gets complicated for you and won’t work, if you have all the right things in the right order, bingo baby it works well !!

Just bought a 2024 RT two weeks ago. I use Starkey hearing aids. Is that something that I could pair up as a "headset" to get Apple Car Play to work? Still brand new to all this. And THANKS for the awesome video
Uhhh… NEWS FLASH, the Apple CarPlay will work with most any Bluetooth earbuds ! I have two pairs, one cheap, one pair not so cheap and it works with both. Handy when you are sans helmet !

But the iPhone uses a Type-C cable and the cable connected to the screen is U. Is there a way to convert the U to Type-C?

As an FYI, from my 10 days experience with my new 2024 RT-L Sea-to-Sky, here’s a few info/tips. Before buying my new BRP Advex helmet with the Sena Vibe communicator, I did a test with Apple’s original AirPods Pro 2 and it did work flawlessly. Although wearing AirPods under the helmet is not the most comfortable thing for me, I just wanted to test it. It also worked with Beats X earphones (Beats is an Apple owned company).
If you are not going to use the original Apple cable, make sure you buy one that as the MFI logo certification on it, MFI stands for « Made for iPhone », which also support data transmission, otherwise you’re in it for trouble as most vendors are selling charging cable only, especially cheap ones.
Finally, what works best for me and 100% of the time once the devices are paired at least once with the Spyder, is to connect the iPhone with the wire, power on my helmet communicator and THEN power on the Spyder. That order or connections never failed for now.
Oh, and having Apple CarPlay is so much useful than any prior BRP attempt at providing a pseudo navigation system on Spyders with BRP Connect ! You can now choose from Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze and have your music from Spotify or Apple Music as FM radio still seems to be a weak spot on Spyder once out of urban areas, especially on my 2024 that has no external antenna.
