Apple (Apple) launched a new generation of Apple Watch Series 12 at the 2026 Apple Autumn Conference, equipped with a new S11 chip and a redesigned Health Sensing System, focusing on more accurate heart rate monitoring and new health and AI functions. Apple said that Series 12 has been tested by more than 1,000 participants and has the highest heart rate sensing accuracy among many wearable devices.
Series 12 uses a larger and more power-saving green LED optical heart rate sensor, which can measure heart rate every 5 seconds around the clock and increase the heart rate variability (HRV) measurement frequency by up to 24 times, allowing users to more fully understand their body and recovery status. Nighttime vital signs will also compare HRV to personal baseline values, while adding daytime data viewing capabilities.
Another highlight is the new “Readiness” function, which analyzes recent activities, training load, vital signs and sleep scores to generate a 0 to 10 rating, and provides suggestions such as “recover”, “adjust pace”, “get ready” or “let go” to help users determine whether the day is suitable for rest or training.

As for the battery, the Series 12 has a maximum daily battery life of 24 hours and a maximum of 10 hours of outdoor sports, which is 25% more than the previous generation. Charging for 15 minutes can increase the power to up to 12 hours, and the charging efficiency is increased by 50%. The new step counting algorithm combined with machine learning also further improves the accuracy of step count and indoor running distance.
The Health App has been simultaneously revised, with new “Health Age” and “Longevity” tabs, using Apple Watch health data to analyze physical status. Series 12 also imports Audio Intelligence, which can identify sounds such as alarms, doorbells, and babies crying, review the first 15 seconds of conversation text through Live Rewind, and use Siri Recap to organize the key points of the conversation.
Apple Watch Series 12 is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes. The aluminum version adds Ceramic Shield 2. Apple says the durability is 60% higher than the previous generation Ion-X glass. Titanium and new ceramic versions are available.
