It is reported that Samsung’s next-generation flagship phone Galaxy S27 Ultra may adjust its processor strategy before its launch. It was originally expected that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor in the global market. However, the latest news points out that due to Samsung’s own Exynos 2700 internal test performance is better than expected, it does not rule out switching to Qualcomm and Exynos dual-chip solution, so that the Ultra series Exynos will not be used for many years. Korean media “MoneyToday” quoted industry sources as saying that Samsung’s mobile experience (MX) and system LSI departments have currently cooperated to develop the Galaxy S27 Ultra motherboard equipped with Exynos 2700, while ensuring the supply of their own processors. If finalized, the Galaxy S27 Ultra may re-adopt a regional version strategy, maintaining the Snapdragon version in the US market, and switching to Exynos 2700 in the Korean and European markets.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra was the last Exynos version of the S Ultra flagship launched in 2022. After that, Samsung gradually used Qualcomm Snapdragon in the Ultra series. Now that the Exynos version is back, it also means that Samsung’s confidence in the new generation of self-developed chips has significantly increased.
Exynos 2700 uses Samsung’s improved SF2P 2nm process, which is expected to reduce power consumption by about 26% and increase clock speed by up to 15%. Galaxy S27, S27+ and the rumored S27 Pro may also adopt a Snapdragon and Exynos hybrid strategy.
In terms of hardware design, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to maintain a similar body size to the S26 Ultra, but the battery capacity is expected to be slightly increased, and the rear camera configuration will be adjusted, canceling the current 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, strengthening the existing 50-megapixel 5x telephoto lens, and introducing a new camera module design, becoming an important appearance change for the new generation of Ultra.
