Apple’s new generation Apple Watch Series 12 is expected to be unveiled at the fall conference in September. In addition to functional upgrades, the appearance materials may also undergo long-awaited changes. The latest news points out that Apple intends to bring back the “ceramic watch case” that has not been seen for many years, which makes many old Apple fans look forward to it.
The last ceramic Apple Watch version was 7 years ago
Tipster Kosutami recently revealed on the X platform that Apple Watch Series 12 will re-launch a ceramic case version. In fact, this news is not the first to appear. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman also revealed earlier this month that Apple is planning a new ceramic Apple Watch, which may debut this year or next year. Now as more revelations surface, the ceramic version may have a chance to return as soon as this year.
For senior Apple fans, ceramic Apple Watch is no stranger. The last time Apple launched a ceramic watch case, it dates back to the Apple Watch Series 5 Edition in 2019, and then disappeared from the product lineup, about 7 years ago.
The ceramic version was a high-end model back then.
One of the characteristics of ceramic materials is that they have a warmer and smoother texture than ordinary metals. Coupled with scratch resistance, the ceramic Apple Watch of that year became a classic model in the hearts of many Apple fans. However, the price of beauty is that it is not cheap. In the past, ceramic editions were positioned as high-end and were much more expensive than other material versions.
There is currently no further information on the appearance, color and price of the Apple Watch Series 12 ceramic version. Apple’s past Edition product line has long since passed into history, so even if the ceramic material does return this time, it is still unknown whether the Edition name will be re-branded. However, it can be expected that the price of the ceramic version may not be too affordable and may become a high-end option in the Apple Watch Series 12 product line.
