Earlier, Japanese media discovered that new devices with model numbers XQ-HH44, XQ-HH54 and XQ-HH74 had appeared in the IMEI database. It was revealed that they may be the Xperia 1 IX flagship phone released in 2027.
According to Japanese media S-MAX, new SONY devices with model numbers XQ-HH44, XQ-HH54 and XQ-HH74 were registered in the GSMA’s IMEI database last Tuesday, August 4.
The article mentioned that according to the SONY naming method, the “H” letter after “XQ” represents release in 2027, “4X” is the Japanese version, “5X” is the European version, and “7X” is the Asian/National Bank version. The “4” code at the end represents support for eSIM.
Among them, XQ-HH44 will support the NTN satellite communication NGSO standard that complies with 3GPP standards. This feature is a high-end configuration and may imply that the new product is the next-generation flagship Xperia 1 IX. If true, it may appear earlier than the current generation 1 VIII based on the registration time.
Mobile Magazine’s short comment: For reference, the Xperia 1 VIII model is XQ-GE44/54/74. If the news is true, even though it is still early for the Xperia 1 IX to be released, it at least confirms that the brand has a follow-up product roadmap.
