Huawei’s nova 16 series is expected to welcome new members in the short term. According to the latest news, HUAWEI nova 16 SE is expected to be officially released next week, and details about the machine’s processor, lens specifications, and release time have begun to circulate on the Internet.
According to a Weibo tipster, HUAWEI nova 16 SE will be equipped with a Kirin 8020 chip that supports 5G networks. This mid-range 7nm process processor was originally launched on the nova 14 Ultra in 2025. It adopts a 1+3+4 eight-core architecture design, including one 2.285GHz large core, three 2.05GHz medium cores, and four 1.3GHz energy-saving cores. Compared with previous models, Kirin 8020’s performance in the CPU multi-core test has increased by 52%, GPU performance has improved by 26%, and NPU computing power has increased by 128%, while also optimizing battery life.
In the past, the SE models in Huawei’s smartphone family were usually positioned as special editions with higher cost performance, focusing on thin and light bodies, high-pixel main lenses and fast charging functions. However, corresponding cost control was often implemented in terms of hardware configuration. In the past three years, manufacturers have mostly used Snapdragon processors that only support 4G networks in these entry-level models. As Huawei’s own Kirin chip product line is gradually improving, the manufacturer seems to think that now is the best time to upgrade the SE series and reintroduce its own research and development chips to support 5G networks.
In addition to the chip configuration, sources also revealed that HUAWEI nova 16 SE will be available in black, white and a gradient version, and the specific fusion gradient effect has yet to be officially announced. Based on other latest information currently leaked, the new phone may have a body design similar to HONOR Power 2, and is expected to be equipped with a 1.5K resolution LTPS OLED flat screen, a 50-megapixel main lens that supports Red Maple imaging technology, and a large battery with a capacity of up to 8500mAh.
