Recently, many Android Auto users have reported that the real-time traffic display on Google Maps on their cars is abnormal. The green, orange, and red road signs that originally represented smooth traffic, congestion, etc. suddenly disappeared, and all roads turned gray, making it impossible for drivers to quickly judge the traffic conditions ahead, causing many complaints.
Some users said on Reddit that Google Maps can still display real-time traffic conditions normally on mobile phones, but after connecting to Android Auto, the color of the road conditions completely disappears whether it is on a Toyota RAV4 or Subaru Forester vehicle. Even clearing the cache and reinstalling Android Auto cannot solve the problem.
However, some netizens also shared a temporary solution. Just click the “North Up” button on the map and switch to the overview mode, and the traffic color will be displayed again. However, not all affected users can be restored to normal through this method, indicating that this issue still varies individually.
Some netizens have pointed out that the problem may occur in Google Maps version 26.28.03.942936911, which is more likely to occur when paired with Android Auto 17.2.662624. As for the latest Android Auto 17.3 Beta version, some users said that no abnormalities occurred.
It is speculated that this bug may be related to the immersive navigation function that Google has gradually launched recently, or it may just be a program error after the new version of Google Maps is updated. Google has not yet issued a statement on this issue, nor has it confirmed when a corrective update will be released.
On the other hand, Google is continuing to add more new features to Android Auto, including widgets, audio and video app support, and more complete large-size screen interface optimization, which is expected to be launched this year.
