SAMSUNG officially released its new AI smart glasses at the latest Galaxy Unpacked conference. This daily wearable device is jointly created by SAMSUNG, Google and Qualcomm and runs on the exclusive Android XR system. Different from the Galaxy XR head-mounted device, which focuses on gaming and professional fields, the new AI smart glasses do not have a built-in screen and instead focus on audio feedback and voice interaction, so that users can naturally use AI assistants when walking, working and exploring without relying on traditional display panels.
In terms of hardware configuration, this AI smart glasses are equipped with Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor. This chip is specially designed for lightweight smart glasses, ensuring that it can provide AI computing power while still maintaining a thin and light body design. Through deep integration with the Google Gemini AI assistant optimized for wearable devices, the lenses built into the glasses can recognize the environment in front of the user. Users can capture the whiteboard through the lens and automatically organize the content into the notepad application. They can also record videos from a first-person perspective or share real-time images during video calls.
In daily application scenarios, Google Gemini brings many practical functions to this smart glasses. The device can automatically summarize long messages and read important information aloud. It also has a real-time translation function to assist users in cross-language communication when traveling overseas. In addition, the glasses support real-time navigation, providing the wearer with route guidance to the destination, and can provide real-time information about the surrounding environment while sightseeing. Users can operate in a variety of ways, including hands-free voice commands, tapping the touch-sensitive area of the glasses frame, and connecting to other smart devices for control.
In order to integrate smart glasses into the daily wear of the public, SAMSUNG specially invited well-known eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to be responsible for the appearance design. The Gentle Monster version adopts a black slender frame design, which combines a straight upper edge with a rounded lower half, showing a modern design language. As for Warby Parker, it offers brown frame options, and the appearance is more traditional glasses, suitable for users to wear all day long.
