The iPhone has always been one of Apple’s most important product lines, but starting from this fall’s launch event, the iPhone’s release strategy may undergo the biggest adjustment in recent years. Simply put, you may not be able to buy the standard iPhone 18 this year, and even the next-generation iPhone 19 series may have variables.
The standard version of iPhone 18 may be absent from this fall’s launch event
Many sources have been pointing out that Apple plans to adopt a new strategy of “releasing iPhones twice a year” and focus on high-end models this fall, including iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the first foldable iPhone. It is speculated that it will be named iPhone Ultra, so the standard iPhone 18 may be absent.
The standard version of iPhone 18 is rumored to be postponed to the spring of 2027. By then, the second-generation iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e are expected to debut together.

Not only that, 2027 coincides with the 20th anniversary of the launch of the iPhone, and there are rumors in the market that Apple may skip the iPhone 19 series and directly launch the 20th anniversary edition of the iPhone. This approach is actually not without precedent. Apple skipped the iPhone 9 and directly used the iPhone X as the 10th anniversary model.
According to Bloomberg design reporter Mark Gurman, the 20th anniversary iPhone will maintain a dual-machine strategy, and is expected to be called iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max. It is reported that the biggest highlight will be the nearly full-screen design. Apple hopes to create an almost borderless visual effect by extending the curved glass to both sides of the fuselage and further reducing the frame and opening area, making it the most futuristic iPhone ever.
If Apple proceeds according to this blueprint, the iPhone product line in the next two years will be very exciting. However, the above-mentioned news is still in the rumor stage and has not yet been officially confirmed by Apple. The final product plan still needs time to be verified.
