After Nothing launched the entry-level mobile phone CMF Phone 2 Pro in April last year, the market has been looking forward to the news of its successor model. There were earlier rumors that CMF Phone 3 Pro will be officially launched in the third quarter of this year, that is, around August to September. However, users who are looking forward to this affordable new phone may have to adjust their expectations, because Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis has made it clear that the brand will not launch any new CMF series phones this year.
The main reason for the shelving of the release of this new machine is the recent continued rise in the price of memory components. As a consumer-friendly pricing brand under Nothing, CMF’s products have always relied on strict cost control to maintain market competitiveness. Therefore, this type of entry-level smartphones are often the most vulnerable to the direct impact of hardware cost fluctuations. Akis Evangelidis explained that in the current high memory price environment, the development team cannot create a mobile phone that can bring a significant upgrade experience to users while complying with the CMF product pricing logic. Rather than launch an iterative product that lacks substantial progress due to cost compromises, officials would rather choose to suspend this year’s new machine release plan.
Although there is no opportunity to see CMF’s new smartphones this year, the development of the brand’s product line has not stopped. Officials revealed that the CMF team is currently actively preparing for a number of new technology products, including new equipment categories that the brand has never been involved in, which are expected to be unveiled later. At the same time, Akis Evangelidis also revealed another news to fans, suggesting that the Nothing main brand will soon have a new smartphone. As for whether this mysterious new phone is the next-generation flagship Nothing Phone (4) or another new series, further official announcement is still pending at this stage.
