Samsung is expected to release a new generation of foldable phones in July. There are rumors in the market that in order to compete with Apple’s foldable iPhone, Samsung will also add a new “wide folding” model this year in addition to Z Fold8 and Z Flip8. A model model has appeared on the Internet, becoming the closest exposure to the appearance of a real machine.
Well-known tipster Sonny Dickson recently shared a prototype video of Samsung’s wide-folding mobile phone, giving the outside world a clearer understanding of the appearance of the new phone. Like previously leaked renderings and rumors, it adopts a wider screen ratio and looks more like a mini tablet when unfolded. It is expected to bring more comfortable visual effects for watching movies, watching TV series or playing games.
Sonny Dickson also described, “It’s the first time I’ve seen a Samsung wide-folding model. The thickness is incredible. It’s almost as thin as the S25 Edge when folded.” The camera module on the back uses a dual-lens configuration, indicating that the product is positioned lower than the Z Fold8.
It is worth noting that this model machine has obvious gaps at the hinges. However, this does not necessarily mean that the final commercial version will have the same problem. Since the model machine is usually only for displaying the exterior design and does not have a complete internal structure, it may make the hinge gap look particularly obvious.

Another well-known tipster, Ice Universe, also expressed his opinion on this model machine, believing that it is a “lower quality model” and can only be used as a “rough reference.” Even so, it can still help the outside world understand the overall design direction in advance.
On the other hand, recent news has pointed out that Samsung may adjust its naming strategy. The wide folding device will be directly named “Z Fold8” and the familiar Z Fold8 will be changed to “Z Fold8 Ultra”. However, many people believe that this naming method may cause confusion among consumers, and the final product name has yet to be officially announced by Samsung.
