Google’s Pixel phones have always had many exclusive features, which is one of the important reasons why many users like the Pixel series. However, the latest signs show that Google is preparing to expand the “Take a Message” function to more Android phones and further launch it in more markets around the world.
The message function is currently only available in a few markets
This message function is actually a smart function integrated into the voicemail of the mobile phone. When the user misses the call, the system will automatically pick up the call and convert the voice message left by the caller into a verbatim transcript. The user can then read the content directly without having to listen to the entire speech again. In addition, the system can also help identify spam messages and harassing phone calls.
This feature is currently only available in Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States, and supports all Pixel phones running Android 11 or above.
Program code exposed to expand more Android phones and markets
According to a foreign media disassembly of the Google Phone App code, it was discovered that Google intends to expand the “message” function unique to Pixel phones on a large scale, and may open it to more Android phones in the future. However, the actual supported brands and models are still unknown. Since this function can already operate on older models such as Pixel 6, outsiders speculate that there should not be a big threshold for hardware specifications.
On the other hand, Google is also preparing to launch it in more markets. The code mentions Taiwan, but the initial version in Taiwan may not be a fully functional version, and some advanced features may not be available.
Foreign media are currently unable to successfully enable this feature on non-Pixel phones or Pixel phones that do not support the market, so it may take some time before it is officially launched. It is worth noting that this type of APK teardown information mainly speculates on future functions based on the code under development, so it may not necessarily be officially launched in the end.
