Apple has released watchOS 27 developer beta 7 and public beta 5, and at only 312MB (build 24R5358A) this is another small release — but there’s still plenty worth going over. In this watchOS 27 beta 7 review I test the new Siri AI on the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the delay is still the biggest problem: Siri takes several seconds just to appear, the on-device step count request still fails, and the Siri AI toggle that used to let you switch back has quietly been removed from Settings. I’ll show you the workaround to get Classic Siri back on your Apple Watch, and go over what Apple actually promised about Siri AI launching in beta later this year versus what people are expecting at release.

on my public beta Siri takes ages to do easy things like turning off the fan or setting up an alarm. It also struggles to hear me. so frustrating
It is a huge disappointment that Apple Watch Siri AI cannot answer health metric questions directly on the health tracking device itself.

So here’s my take on this video regarding the SiriAi App activation being very slow in comparison with the regular Siri without Ai. If that’s the case, why is Apple making us upgrade our Ultra 1 watch? They’re saying because it’s not able to handle the processor power drain that SitiAi will incur. Well that’s B.S.! This just proves once again Apple did it to us once again! I’m pissed! I got an Ultra 3 just because of that, and now come to find out, oh it’s gonna take too much processing power off your Ultra 1. Apple could have made WatchOs 27 version for the Ultra 1and the other watches that were not supported! It’s Tamie we let Tim Cook and Apple know that they either give us WatchOs 27 for Ultra 1 and lower devices or face a Class Action Lawsuit!!!
I’m having a rather annoying issue, for some reason when sending messages off my Ultra 3, it will show as Delivered for a couple of minutes. But afterwards it shows as “not delivered” and I have to tap “try again”. On my phone however, it will show as having been delivered like it should, it’s just the watch I’ve seen this issue on.
So far, it’s primarily with just one person, so I’m not sure if it’s an update glitch, or something on their end that’s causing me to see this. They are an Android user, if anyone may know of anything about this or how to fix it.
I’ve tried everything on my end to attempt to fix it, but nothing seems to have worked thus far.
Note: The recipient is still getting the message and will reply to them, but I visually have no security for myself that they actually got it. Any help with this, is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
10:55 I’ve actually been having that exact issue that you’re describing here about the watch face showing up on my Apple Watch, even though I’m not on the watchOS 27 beta. My phone is on iOS 27 beta 7, and for some reason it keeps switching into my work focus when I’m at home and overnight occasionally, like I’ll wake up and I’ll be seeing my watch face and be very confused. Not sure if it’s a totally separate bug, but I have had the same experience of seeing my watch face overnight while sleep tracking and being very confused anyways, even though I’m not on the watchOS 27 beta.
I think I would rather throw my Apple Watch Ultra into a wood chipper than use watchOS 27 with no app switcher.
If I’m in a running group and I need to check directions, I can imagine trying to yell at my watch to open up the maps app so it can hear me over any wind and rain. Worse yet, if the weather is really bad or I’m just sweaty, Siri might not work at all since heavy wind or rain can easily block the Apple Watch's microphones. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to have Siri to be able to do things, but for Apple to reduce the number of ways that you can do things for no apparent reason is inexcusable and vexing.

Watch 10, I asked Siri to open The Weather Channel – the result was instantaneous.

I think Apple messed up by adding Siri AI to a watch that wasn’t built for AI. Hopefully they find a way to work around it.
I share the same experience with Siri on the Watch Series 10. Open garage door, 10, 20, 30s later. I arrived home.and Siri shit it’s pants – Useless.

Why would you ever want to switch apps with Siri…. dumb. For opening sure, but quiclly switching back, thats silly.
Also, they should just add a Quit app slider to that power/emergency screen so it won't be so hidden. I'm guessing people will be so bent out of shape that the app switcher will return in 27.1. Also, i'm curious if they are clearing the way for some new hardware specific feature that uses the double tap of the crown. Otherwise its really confusing why they would remove that functionality.
Can you disable Siri AI on the wach via the Watch app > Siri? or likewise on the watch settings itself?
Siri works great on my watch Series 10. Not sure why you are creating videos and saying that it doesn’t.
You can easily turn off Siri in either the phone or watch app, in SETTINGS, SIRI, LISTEN FOR, and click OFF. Not sure why you don’t know that.

While wearing the watch double tap your thumb and finger to see a list of open apps. Swipe them away to close them.

I actually love the idea of the app grid in theory—I was really excited when I first saw it in the keynote. The lack of zero-screen-interaction app switching just completely undermines why I have the watch. I feel completely betrayed by Apple, who sold this as a sports watch with all the benefits of an Apple Watch, and I have literally never considered switching to a Garmin until now. I use my Apple Watch Ultra 2 for marathon training, and I really need to be able to switch between apps without looking at or touching the screen because it is essential to knowing where I’m going in Maps and what my workout metrics are in the Workout app. Apple’s solution to not being able to use your watch for running and navigation is a broken Siri that’s sluggish and can’t even set a one-minute timer without spending a quarter of that time, thinking about setting the timer. Smh.
