So let me get this straight the older Apple watches are getting the update for some of them, but not the first GEN ultra😡😡😡 make it make sense
Now you can’t close apps in the background anymore by double tapping the crown. iOS 27 has shut that down. Apple wants your apps open so they can keep collecting data.
The Ultra is such a scam. My Ultra 1 functions totally fine; but Apple pulls their same crap and forces you to upgrade. This is getting ridiculous…..like class-action lawsuit kind of ridiculous.

Are you saying there will no longer be a area where the apps you use all the time will be accessible? Like when you double press the crown, but elsewhere? Not at all? Well then I guess IOS 27 and the new update for the watch will not be upgraded by me until it returns.

I’ve beeen using the dev beta for 27 on phone and Watch. I mean, its exactly the same as 26. A few tiny visual changes id I’d never even notice if it wasnt for videos like this. Totally pointless “upgrade”. Where are the third-party watch faces? Who uses smart stack? No one. Siri is SO SLOW and dumb as a brick. Have to wait 5-10 secs before its even ready to answer. What a disappointment. And its wrong almost ALL the time, just like before.
Oh yeah, I forgot I don’t see this because of AW Ultra 1. Darn.
Not supporting the Ultra 1 is WILD. I ended up selling mine and got the Ultra 2. But that’s ridiculous.
So how do you close all your active apps ?

You mentioned the Apple wallet and for Costco for example I’ve already got the card on my watch and they refuse me entry in the UK. You’ve got to use the physical card. They will not let you use a barcode on your watch you must physically use the card to be able to enter Costco

Costco QR code changes dynamically so your shortcut in the wallet app doesn’t work.
They need to bring back the app switcher option.. I like closing apps when I’m not using it..the new way to go about it is more in the way
I can definitely say that the battery has improved over WatchOS 26 in WatchOS 27 PB5. PB1 chewed through the battery though and was lucky to last 24 hours on my AWU3. With PB5 I have 35% to 40% left after 48 hours. Previously it would be 25% to 30% on WatchOS 26.

I’m considering purchasing the new Garmin Fenix 9. I currently own the Apple Ultra 2, and it has been a significant disappointment in terms of its fitness capabilities.
I hope you read this comment. I have the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and I do not have these features and I’m not sure why I’ve been abled AI but nothing has changed or looks like what you have.

What watch face is that
1:31 I cannot see myself ever upgrading my Apple Watch Ultra 2 to iOS 27. or even buying an Apple Watch again until the app switcher or an easy way to switch back and forth between the current and most recently used app is back. Apple doesn’t even have maps functionality native in its workout app, so it forces you to have to switch to the native maps app or whatever other maps app you want to use for running routes. If you are sweaty or it’s raining on a run, you cannot rely on buttons on the screen like the ones in the dynamic smart grid. So if you run and need maps while you’re running, Apple just disables your $800 watch with iOS 27. and no, Siri is not a solution because if you’re running pretty hard, it can be difficult to speak at all. Even if you’re running slow enough to be able to speak, rain or wind noise can easily make it impossible for your watch to hear you when you’re telling Siri something. There’s also too much of a delay, even with the old Siri in switching apps, I hear that this delay is even worse with the new Siri. This is a complete deal breaker for me with the apple Watch and is the first thing I think might ever make me throw my Apple Watch into a wood chipper. I am shocked that Apple would disable a watch for running and navigation that they are trying to sell to people for $800 as a running sports watch. I am so frustrated and upset and disappointed with Watch OS 27.
