I wanted the 12GB of ram for gaming but that 12GB of ram with my iPad Air m4 gets me access to the more powerful Siri AI model and I have the only iPad air model that supports the more powerful model

So if I donāt want the AI crap I can still install iPadOS 27 on a 2020 iPad Air?
This is misleading. All M series iPad will have Siri AI as stated on Appleās release note

Had an iPad Pro 11 M4 256 for exactly a year, just upgraded to a base iPad Pro 11 M5 256. Base M4 256 with 8 GB RAM, base M5 256 with 12 GB of RAM. Apple gave me $625 on trade, so $30 per month, no interest for 12 mo on my Apple Card. Faster iPad, uses same screen protector and case, no re-invest! Ready now for IOS 27 and Siri AI advanced features!
Great video! I will add some information on a couple of subjects to clarify some things that I think are very important.
The 8GB Apple Intelligence devices (like the iPad Air M3 11) will still support most of the new AI features, including Photos editing tools, Image Playground, Writing Tools, and improved system-wide dictation compared to older devices. The A devices won't have noticeable changes, they will benefit mainly from improvements accross the board and maybe a few lighter features.
The main limitations for 8GB devices are on the more advanced on-device AI models, such as the highest-tier speech and voice generation features and the most advanced transcription model.
Itās also worth noting that, at least for now, the EU rollout is more limited. The new Siri āpersonal assistantā features that can interact across apps and use user data (like Mail, Messages, Calendar, etc.) are delayed there, so they wonāt be available in Europe at launch (nor there's a date for it). This doesnāt affect general AI tools like Photos, writing assistance, etc.
So overall, regarding EU you still get a lot of the new AI features, just not the deeper Siri stuff that connects everything across your apps (user data privacy laws), and regarding memory, only the 12GB devices will have the most advanced transcription model.
Like the most powerful Siri only supports m4 or later well u will get most of it .. only canāt get the voice tweeking like the pace and stuff and the m4 or later has a touch of better understanding
Wait, so if I have my iPad Air M2, does that mean I wonāt get any Siri AI features? If no, what then Iām a missing out compared to the Pro M4 and above models?

I remember seeing teardowns that showed that the iPad pros that had 8gb really had 12gb but 4 was unused. I wonder if Apple is going to enable those 4gbs.

Dude, all existing Apple Intelligence devices will get Siri AI. Itās only the advanced AI stuff that are excluded from some devices without the 12gb RAM such as the expressed voice models.
It annoys me that Apple is releasing a new OS system that won't fully run on an iPad just purchased last year. That's ridiculous. They are losing touch with people being able to financially keep up with their products.
How do you find out how much ram your iPad has?
I purposely purchased the A16 because I didnāt want AIš Iāll have it on my other Apple devices, and just like my Samsung & Pixel devices, seldom if ever use it.
Iām actually happy for those that will use it,and will watch content about it.

Slatepad has already demonstrated that all new Apple Intelligence features work on the M1 iPad Pro 8GB of RAM and iPad Mini 7. All iPhone 16 and newer phones also have all the new features .
Thats why I always think when buying an Ipad or any other Apple device you actually never have it āfuture proofedā with everything, just like Ipad Pro M4 example , unless you got upgraded storage with 12gb of RAM you basically missing on full AI features, especially after purchasing such an expensive device you donāt expect this to happen so quickly,
