   Considering all laptops and components have gone up, if you actually want new, then yes it’s still worth it. It’s still one of the best laptops for majority of people unless you need something windows specific or want it for gaming. That market is becoming more and more niche.

   Very happy with my m5 air. It’s a stupid fast silent machine with insane battery life and awesome build quality.

   I bought my MacBook Air with 24GB four months ago. It's now £200 more for the same spec. I think for me personally, although I'm not a power user, the benefit over the Neo is that this laptop will likely last me for years before I feel the need to replace it. The Neo only has 8GB RAM, and I don't think you can increase that at purchase, so how long will it last you for before it starts to feel slower?….

    I have no choice, our 2019 Intel iMac died. So I bought a Studio Display for $1240 (refurbished) and planned on buying a MAC mini, but then I started playing around and found a nicely spaced MB M5 Air was a better deal. Why the Air can replace my 2019 Gen 3 iPad Air. And I’’m buying TODAY not two months ago. So it’s still a great deal. I should get 7 or 8 years out of it. So I’ll use it as a Desk Top until my iPad dies.

    hey i paid 1270 usd for macbook air m5 15" and its been delivered now, got it before price hike, but idk if i should keep it or return it. it was impulse buy, i always wanted to learn mac os, and maybe i might need to use it for bed use, but my full time setup is my standing desk mesh chair and a dual 28" monitor windows 11 desktop with nice mx keys and logitech master 3s mouse. like its a proper setup. so im wondering if i open the box will i ever be able to use it to its full potential or will I force myself to use it coz i bought it, i already have all aluminum intel nuc m15 laptop but i rarely use it due to loud fan noise and its heavy and battery life not the best. so honestly i rarely used it since purchase 2 years ago. idk im so torn between returning it and keeping it.

    another thought was i can connect it to my second monitor due to having dual monitors, and i can make the logitech logi work across both OS seamlessly as if it was the same os, like i can use logi software to go across the two monitors, then maybe i can say ok im getting some use out of it, learning mac os, and having the laptop option if i choose to go bed use for an hour or 2 during my work day..

    The very easy to do thermal pad mod does get you more sustained clockspeed boosts which is nice, but the price increase definitely killed the value of the Air overall – I picked one up for around $1440 24GB configuration before the hike, but at $1800 after tax now it is almost like just splurge for the Pro.

    Plus we know that when supply normalizes in 2028-2029, Apple will never go back to their original pricing. The price gouging era is here to stay.

    Well I’ve an m1 pro had it handles everything . Had it for years and ive never ince thought it was bulk or heavy. It looks and feels amazing and will last a good few years more.

    The buy a new one every year hype died about 7 years ago.
    Ive a 13pro phone and again still works makes calls etc.

    surprisingly enough the m5 air is actually not a bad price as a everyday usage laptop. however the Neo might be in quite a difficult position.

    The Neo is slower in the real world than even the M1 MacBook Air. We got one in the house for my daughter (before the price hike) and it's okay for what Apple says: very light workload or office basic tasks, students, etc.

    Then, you have the display, wich is worse too. It's also small compared to today standards. Even the trackpad is not haptic, tech that Apple is been using from 2013.

    I know it's sad for all of us the prices hikes. But, the Neo is the Neo. You can't do serious work with a computer with a cellphone processor and 8 GB of RAM.

    The Air is the minimum proper computer for actually real work.

    And if we should pay more, well… that's the new reality.

    YouTube suggested this video to me. I watched it. And I’m going to select the option to never recommend videos from this channel again. Just another cliché video with a clickbait title — there are thousands like it, where the host spouts nonsense with a serious look on their face, as if everyone else were sheep who can’t think for themselves or figure out what they need. By the way, I’m not a Power User, but I understand why I’ll never buy a Neo, and it’s not about performance — aside from that, the Neo is in many ways worse than even the Air, not to mention the Pro. And I’ll say it again: it’s not about performance, which I couldn’t care less about.

    All these reviews keep giving wrong info. Issue has been these machine heat up. It is annoying and frustrating. Traditionally you have to go to pro machine with M pro chip to stop that. Question I have is that if that has changed with M5

    $200 over the life of a MBA, lets say 3 years = .20¢ a day. In the usa the base 13" M5 was 949 on sale fore months. Currently base 13" 16/512 is USD $1099 refurbished, same as the original. 24/1TB is $1500

    I'm trying to decide between a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air. After listening to you, it seems like an Air should be fine; however, how do I determine how much RAM I will need?
    About 9 months ago, I purchased a new 15-inch M4 Air with 16GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD, thinking I was good on memory but was hesitant about the storage space. I supported my decision, reasoning that I don't do photo or video manipulation and save almost everything to iCloud.

    To my surprise, computer performance and functionality issues started popping up. I was told by the IT guy that they were due to insufficient RAM to support my activities. My Activity Monitor shows that I'm consistently using 14+/16 GB of RAM, and 11 GB when 90% idle. He said I keep too many internet tabs open at the same time. My memory-heavy activities include literature searches in which I collect papers, articles, quotes, and screenshots, while intermittently using Perplexity and, in parallel, writing a report with Grammarly close at hand offering suggestions. I can easily have 30+ tabs, 10+ Word/PDF documents and a draft PowerPoint presentation open at the same time. Of course, the status quo apps/programs are also open, e.g., email Inbox, calendar, Teams, Wrike.

    If I go with an Air configuration of 24GB RAM and 1 TB SSD, could I find myself in the same boat in a year or so? It seems like the programs and their updates are taking more and more storage space and apparently memory as well. This week I deleted programs that I don't use very often to free up memory. Removing Creative Cloud made a huge difference.

    I picked up an Apple Refurb M5 MacBook Air 15 with 32 gigs & 1 tb SSD. For me, the larger screen was a must have. Plus, this will be my main laptop for a long while to come.

    The mid level BTO 24/1tb is the better configuration that will make it the long term workhorse for most projects/usage. I picked up my M4 16” MBA the same day the price jumped overnight. I got it for $1299. Open box at my local photo store in NYC. The M5 version was over 2K and selling like hotcakes due to the stock on hand.
    Glad the midnight color was the open box/ customer return . It’s doing perfect for my AI programming courses, fast and powerful with anything I’m throwing at it to build. Silicone chipset is the de facto for this purpose.

    I purchased a MacBook Air M5 from iPlanet, Salem, on 8 May 2026. It has not even been two months since my purchase.

    I am experiencing a keyboard issue. The numeric keys 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 work perfectly. The Shift key also works correctly. However, when I use the Shift key to type the corresponding special characters such as !, @, #, $, %, ^, *, (, ), none of them work.

    This is not a case of a single key being damaged. If a key had simply stopped working due to normal wear and tear, I would understand a repair. In my case, the keys function normally, but the associated special-character function does not. This clearly appears to be a manufacturing defect. Most of the buyers faced the same issues.

    I went from an M1 MBP to the Air M5 13in. It's a phenomenal laptop. The MBP is overkill for me; it's a mix of work productivity for me, (Word, Excel, Outlook etc) and personal (browsing, YouTube, Apple TV, etc), at home plugged into my Apple Studio Display, and then I'm on the road for work twice a month for a week at a time, flying to European spots. The Air is a great portable laptop, so light yet powerful and has enough beef for plugged-in at home. I wish we had some reviewers who weren't obsessed with video frame rates, rendering and colour accuracy. The vast number of users don't care about that. The only downside of the Air is the speakers. I got mine from Amazon and got it for a 12.5% discount on the 10 core CPU/GPU and 24GB of RAM. That was €700 LESS than the similarly specced MBP M5 14in. You can get very good deals on these laptops now.

    Bought an Air about four months ago (at the old price). There's a major issue with it that prospective purchasers should be aware of: its color reproduction. Colors are aggressively super-saturated. I've tried everything to tame reds, yellows, blues and so on, from native light and color settings to apps designed for the purpose. The colors won't budge. (I've verified this predicament, and, yes, I'm not alone in recognizing it.) Realize before you buy that, on the color score, Apple is zealously guarding a screen look that no doubt attracts certain customer, but will annoy many others, particularly those who require accurate color reproduction.

    I have had a macbook pro for 8 years and I have loved everyday with it. I made the choice to switch to windows 7 months ago and I regret it. I am selling the windows and getting the M5 air today. Once you use a mac windows is clunky and annoying.

    Я сомневаюсь, что neo будет достаточен. Я не использую ноутбук в тяжелых задачах. Только для учебы: miro + discord + браузер 2-3 вкладки используют 9-11гб памяти. Neo сейчас впритык работает, без какого либо запаса. Я не знаю, зачем он нужен, если он не осиливает даже такой легкий сценарий. А из за свопа невозможно работать с графическим планшетом. Будут микрофризы. Поэтому я считаю, что air m5 – это минимум, чтоб ноутбук тянул базу 3-5 года

    iPad Pro M4 for me has the Neo beat. Neo would need a touch screen and support Apple Pencil. Bought 13 inch M5 air when on sale at Best Buy. At the 900 sale price work on photos is terrific.Have several card readers. Different cameras that aren’t SD. It has been a long time since I needed to update an Apple device.They are built so well old machines fit like an old pair of jeans. Saw the Neo at the Apple Store and felt like a Bic pen. M5 air was like using a Parker. One can still write with a Bic. Use a Parker and you don’t settle for less.
