problem, when i tried to start sheepshaver from the GUI, it gives me the cdenable.sys missing error, i skip it ofc, and the emulator does not start. at all. how do i fix this?

hey this still works in 2025! Thanks so much! I didn't need the gtk2-runtime. The only thing I really changed is use the Most recent build: SheepShaver for windows (31-01-2025) from Emaculation and I also explicitely used the keycodes_iso under Keyboard/Mouse in the Use Raw Keycodes Section.

for the ones who can't create hfv file. try to move the file that contains everything of sheepshaver to somewhere else other than users file.

Hi, thank you for the guide it worked with a little commonsense under Linux Mint (The latest up-to-date 2024).
There is one thing I cannot get to work and that is the USB-connected external MacOS9/MacOS 10.2.8 HDD.
That I cannot gain access to no matter what I do, and I don`t know how can I enable that.
So, if anyone can help me, please do so.
With Sheepshaver I can boot to MacOS 9.0.4 and I also managed to install it to the VM running on Linux Mint Virginia.
I also have the QuickEMU installed and capable of running MacOS X SONOMA, tried to install Sheepshaver in there but without luck, my computer is too old to do that efficiently.
Anyhow, I aim to get access to the drive`s contents under MacOS9.
I have no issues accessing the MacOS 10.2.8 properties, but I cannot or won`t let me access the MacOS 9.0.4 files. (I think I have removed the OS through my Powerbook Pismo, so once I have the HDD cable and RAM and adapter)
Very helpful. Thank you! One question I have is how to add new fonts to the system. My system is locked (as is the fonts folder). When I open the "get info." dialogue box, the lock checkbox is checked, but it is grayed out so I can't unlock it. Any advice for how to unlock it? Thanks again.
my install keeps freezing. any idea why? it gets to the "installing Mac OS 9" screen, but it freezes there. i have the same settings as you.
i can move the mouse around, but it just shows the spinning clock. is it just being slow? i've let it sit for 20 minutes.

I got to the desktop, double clicked "install mac os 9" and its stuck on "updating apple disk drivers"..
this tutorial was really useful, now its pure mac os 9 without other emulators (infinite mac, macintosh.js)

Just used this video to set this up no problem in 2022 and I am so excited. Just lost my iMac G3 to PAV failing so getting OS 9 running on my modern PC is a dream come true!
