Emulating the Playstation aka the PS1 aka the PSX is pretty straightforward and if you’ve used PCSX2 or RPSC3, it’ll feel very similar. There are multiple options to emulate the Playstation on a Mac, including even on PowerPC Macs with Connectix Virtual Game Station.

While emulators like OpenEmu do a reasonable job of emulating the Playstation , it doesn’t have the advanced graphical features of DuckStation. You can experience Playstation at 4k in widescreen, texture smoothing and faster load times and this tutorial explore the many features of Duckstation.
One of the advantages of the Duckstation emulator is to play games at MUCH higher resolutions and visual fidelity. This is especially noticeable on 3D games. Your mileage will be vary, newer Macs with dedicated GPUs or Apple Silicon era Macs should be able to crank the resolution.

Where do i find the ps1 games? Can i buy them online?
I had the same issue with covers downloading but not displaying on my M1 Mac Mini.
I had to change the save location for the covers in settings, re-downloaded, and the covers showed up correctly.
I had the sudden itch to emulate a game after watching a PS1 let's play and my god was this such an easy and simple to follow tutorial with essential tips.

xBR Texture Filtering gives me choppy audio and overall lag. I have a 2014 rMBP 2.8/2GB Nvidia. JINC2 (Slow) doesn't have the glitchy audio, but I really don't know the differences with these settings. Any suggestion on which to use in my case with my limited machine specs?
PS1 and PS2 emulators can't see my Superdrive, they don't even ask permission to access removable drives, strange

Great tutorial! Personally I have a PS1 and some Sony Trinitrons to pair with it, but this is nice to have as an alternative and a good way to archive the PS1 in general.
I hate Apple but I gotta hand it to them, they sure know how to make a nice looking desktop OS
