IT Home March 5th news, with the release of the iPhone 16e last month and the 11-inch iPad (A16) yesterday, all iPhone and iPad models currently on sale now have a storage capacity starting from 128GB, which also marks the end of the 64GB era.
In addition to the refurbished models, Apple’s last batch of mobile devices that offer 64GB of basic storage are the third-generation iPhone SE and the tenth-generation iPad. The two devices are now discontinued and are replaced by the iPhone 16e with the A18 chip and the new 11-inch iPad (A16).
Apple’s first iPhone with 64GB basic storage is the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X released in 2017; the iPad Pro series launched in the same year also achieved the configuration standard starting with 64GB storage capacity for the first time.
In addition, since October last year, all Mac computers sold by Apple have come with at least 16GB of memory standard (except for refurbished models). Previously, the minimum memory configuration of the series was 8GB, which also made the M2 version of the refurbished Mac mini more expensive than the same configuration M4 version.
The new Mac mini is equipped with 16GB of memory by default and costs US$599 (IT Home Notes: Currently about RMB 4,370); while the Mac mini equipped with M2 chip is US$799 when upgraded to 16GB of memory (currently about RMB 5,830). Obviously, Apple did not fully consider this situation (15% discount on refurbished machines), which made the M2 version more expensive in lower performance.
