A case was posted on Reddit where an iPhone 15 Pro was dropped into a river, and it took 22 hours to find and retrieve it, but once it was dry it worked just like before.
Once again, the device withstood conditions that exceeded the standards set out by Apple.

This post also states that the device was able to withstand water ingress beyond the advertised standards and still function properly.
According to Gerodot01, he dropped his iPhone 15 Pro in a river and picked it up 22 hours later.
Immediately after picking it up, the speaker didn’t produce any sound, but after drying it out, the user reports that it started working just as well as it did before the drop.
Water got into the speaker hole, but the logic board was safe.
Based on what Gerodot01 reported, it appears that water got into the speaker hole of the iPhone 15 Pro, but was eventually able to drain out and become functional again.
There seemed to be no problems other than with the speakers, and it appears that water did not get inside the device, such as on the logic board.
Exceeds the IP68 rating supported by the iPhone 15 Pro
Regarding the splash, water, and dust resistance of the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple states that it complies with the IP68 rating based on IEC standard 60529 and can withstand “up to 6 metres of water for up to 30 minutes.”
It is unknown how deep the river was in which Gerodot01’s iPhone 15 Pro sank, but the time it took was far longer than the standard, preventing water from entering the device.
