Why I don’t scrape my protective equipment after dropping it many times
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve dropped my iPhone from my pocket or let it slip out of my hand while cycling. In the past, I dropped my phone while drunk and broke the screen, so a case and screen protector are essential.
Currently, I’m using a 100 yen Muji case and a 2,000 yen impact-resistant film I bought at Don Quijote. Since the iPhone is also a work tool, I place more emphasis on whether it meets the protection required for the way I use it than the price itself.
If you often drop your product, I feel it is important to check not only the price but also the protection performance when choosing. It is important to judge the protection performance according to the usage environment, such as how often you drop your iPhone and whether you use it for work.
If the risk of falling is high, you may have the option of considering warranty services in addition to cases and films.
Can I use USB-C and MagSafe as is?
I’m not particularly dissatisfied with the current charging environment, and I use a MagSafe charger, Anker charger, multiple USB-C cables, and several mobile batteries. Regarding mobile batteries, we have tested Anker, TNTOR, SOLIDZ, etc. so far.
If the current charger and cable are compatible with the new iPhone, I don’t think it’s necessary to decide to buy a new set because it’s a new iPhone.
However, since compatibility differs for each individual product, such as chargers, cables, and MagSafe devices, we recommend checking each product’s compatibility with the new iPhone before purchasing. It’s best to avoid lumping everything together by saying, “It’s USB-C, so you can definitely use it,” or “It’s MagSafe, so there’s no problem.”
Divide your peripherals into three categories before replacing them
When considering a new iPhone, we recommend taking inventory of the products you already own before you start buying accessories. By dividing your inventory into three categories: “things you can repurchase,” “things you can reuse,” and “things you can add as needed,” it will be easier to see how much you need in addition to the main unit.
The case and film are candidates for repurchase.
Compatible products for cases and screen protection films vary depending on the shape and size of the new iPhone, so there is a high possibility that you will repurchase them. For me, this is a high priority item from the perspective of fall risk.
Chargers and cables are candidates for diversion.
This includes USB-C chargers, USB-C cables, MagSafe chargers, mobile batteries, etc. However, it is necessary to check the compatible standards for each product.
Add only what is missing later
If your current environment is lacking, such as a charging stand or additional cables, just add them.
You can reduce replacement costs by reviewing your peripherals.
I am not denying the idea of using genuine accessories. On the other hand, if you already have something you can use, I don’t think you need to buy a new set just because it’s a new model.
Before purchasing a new iPhone, take inventory of all the accessories you already have. By just separating what you can repurchase and what you can reuse, you can easily see the budget you need for things other than the main unit.
