According to IT House news on September 3, digital blogger @白米奶白米 posted on Weibo on August 30. Through the solder joint diagram, he inferred the size and internal structure of the Apple A20 Pro chip. It has been forwarded by NotebookCheck and other media, as well as overseas bloggers such as @VadimYuryev.
IT Home has attached the relevant Weibo content as follows:
Based on the solder joint diagram, we can infer the size and internal structure of the A20 Pro chip. Let’s talk about this chip by the way. According to the final product diagram (Figure 6), it is a 2+4 CPU structure and a 7-core GPU structure. From the final product, it can be found that the L2 Cache of the small core of the CPU has been enlarged. It is expected to increase from the 6MB L2 of the A19 Pro to 8MB L2. The L2 of the large core of the CPU remains unchanged, still 16MB, SLC The cache is not clear yet, but it should not be cut. After all, there are new ISPs and new ANEs this year, so the demand for cache should be quite high.

The reasoning process of the internal structure of the entire chip: Given the chip solder joint diagram (Figure 1), we can know that the LPDDR interface is located on the far right. Then according to the overlay of the Die solder point bitmap (Figure 2), we can know that some solder points are arranged diagonally and some are arranged forward, so we can draw an outline diagram of the internal component arrangement of the chip (Figure 3).
With the outline diagram, combined with the previous chip Die, we can know that the top part is the GPU part, and the middle part is the CPU part, so we can draw the internal layout of the CPU (Figure 4).
After drawing the CPU part, the next step is the GPU part. Still based on the outline and solder joint locations, I can roughly judge the GPU arrangement. I tried more than a dozen arrangement methods with three core numbers (6 cores, 7 cores, and 8 cores). In the end, the 7-core GPU was the most reasonable arrangement (Figure 5).

According to the above-mentioned Weibo information, the number of GPU cores of Apple A20 Pro may increase from 6 cores of A19 Pro to 7 cores. Overseas blogger @VadimYuryev estimates that graphics performance (based on GeekBench 7 Metal graphics estimated score) may increase by 28%, faster than the M4 chip in iPad Pro.
