SONOS has officially announced Sonos 27, its next generation home audio operating system. The update brings major artificial intelligence-based software upgrades and introduces adaptive architecture. Sonos Fabric and two new reference products in its catalog: Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar and Sonos Ace Ultra headphones.
Open AI Platform: Sonos 27voice, Sonos 27mcp and custom agents
The main software innovation of Sonos 27 is opening the system to advanced language models and voice control:
- Sonos 27voice: This is a customized assistant based on a built-in language model that focuses on music selection and ambience creation based on mood or home environment. It supports natural language instructions without the need for pre-configured phrases.
- Sonos 27mcp: A protocol that allows connecting external assistants. With the help of this standard, it is possible to interact directly with external assistants. OpenAI ChatGPT lets you send music to any room from your phone or computer without interrupting the conversation.
- Sonos Custom Agents: In the future, users will be able to use a tool to design their own virtual assistant within the system, assigning a specific model, personality and voice based on tasks.

Under the denomination Sonos Fabric, the company is launching a new technology that allows home devices to recognize each other and dynamically reconfigure acoustic distribution:
