Every time a new iPhone is released, there is more talk about price and replacement, but at the moment, 0% of respondents intend to replace the new iPhone. Still, I plan to continue using my current iPhone 15 Pro, and I have no intention of quitting my iPhone in the future.
I tried to re-evaluate why I continue to use my iPhone.
The main reason I continued using it for about 15 years was because I got used to it.
I started using an iPhone around 2011 when I was in high school. Smartphones have always been iPhones: iPhone6, iPhone14, and now iPhone15 Pro. I’ve never used Android, so I can’t compare and say which one is better.
However, I feel that the fact that I am used to using it is important. The feel of the controls, the placement of apps, and the location of settings. After using it for so long, the ability to use the iPhone has become ingrained in my body.
To be honest, price alone is not enough to motivate you to move to a different OS.
Apple Watch reduces oversight of work
I tend to forget plans and tasks easily. That has changed a bit since I started using Apple Watch SE (2nd generation).
I only receive notifications that I really need, such as work notifications and Google Calendar reminders, on my Apple Watch, and I feel like I’m much less likely to miss something by receiving notifications on my wrist.
Being able to check notifications on my wrist without having to take out my smartphone makes it easier to concentrate while working. The system that allows you to check only the information you need using your wrist is suitable for the way I work today.
I feel that the genuine band is expensive, so I am currently using a different band.
AirPods and Apple Pay make your life centered around your iPhone
Even after I started using AirPods Pro (2nd generation), switching between them and my iPhone was smooth and I have rarely experienced any inconvenience.
Lately, I’ve been going out a lot more often without taking my wallet with me when I go shopping, just using Apple Pay. I also use my old iPad for online meetings from time to time, and having data synced via iCloud naturally helps.
I didn’t consciously decide to stick to Apple products. Before I knew it, I had created a system centered around the iPhone in my daily life.
Even though it’s convenient, spending on Apple products adds up.
On the other hand, when it comes to price, even if you are satisfied with the functionality of genuine Apple Watch bands and genuine accessories such as AirPods, you may hesitate when looking at the price.
I also use iCloud at my own expense, so expenses related to Apple products are piling up. Although I agree with the convenience, the truth is that I cannot unconditionally approve of everything.
Continue to use your iPhone even if you don’t buy a new model
I believe that “whether or not to buy a new iPhone” and “whether or not to continue using an iPhone” are two different questions.
At the moment, there is little interest in the new model, and I have no problems with the iPhone 15 Pro. Still, I have a feeling that I will continue to use my iPhone. In addition to getting used to it over the years, even the flow of daily life and work, such as Apple Watch notifications and Apple Pay, has become a prerequisite for iPhone.
I’m not going to go so far as to say that my level of happiness has increased by using the iPhone. I’ve never used Android, so I can’t make a fair comparison.
However, it is true that the iPhone functions as a work tool in our current lives, and that may be the main reason why we continue to use it.
When thinking about upgrading to a new model, I feel it’s important to not only consider the price and new features, but also to consider whether there are any real problems with your current device and what you value in your daily life and work.
