These are added to clearly distinguish between emojis whose meanings have been ambiguous due to different designs used by different vendors.

A meteorite emoji will also be added to eliminate confusion with the existing comet emoji. Previously, some vendors depicted comets as fiery meteorites entering the atmosphere.
In the future, it is expected that the meaning of each will be easier to convey by classifying comets as blue, icy celestial bodies and meteorites as red, fiery rocks.
