SAMSUNG officially revealed the design details of its new generation folding flagship Galaxy Z Fold8 at its latest engineering research and development conference. The team successfully reduced the weight of the fuselage significantly to 201g, and the thickness of the fuselage is only 8.9mm, breaking the record for large-screen folding phones and becoming the world’s lightest folding phone. The new machine relies on Flex Titanium titanium alloy film technology and extreme parts fine-tuning to reduce weight while improving battery capacity and lens specifications.

In terms of appearance design, Galaxy Z Fold8 ushered in the most substantial upgrade in thinness and lightness in history. Looking back at the previous generation, Galaxy Z Fold5 weighed 253g. When it comes to Galaxy Z Fold8, it has successfully reduced a full 52g. The folding thickness has also been reduced to 8.9mm, providing a holding feel closer to that of an ordinary candy bar phone. The fuselage frame uses an upgraded version of Advanced Armor Aluminum, taking into account both lightness and protection; the screen support structure introduces Flex Titanium technology specifically designed for folding for the first time, adding a titanium alloy film with a thickness of only tens of microns, and a metal plate as thin as only 0.15mm, ensuring that the large screen is both flat and light.

The internal structure of the fuselage has been deeply reconstructed. The engineering team reviewed approximately 270 core components and 180 auxiliary parts, deleted 15 unnecessary parts with extreme precision of 0.001g and 0.1mm, and streamlined the PCB circuit board and antenna arrangement. In terms of heat dissipation structure, graphite heat sinks with higher thermal conductivity are specially selected, which increases the volume by about 7%. Thanks to the optimization of internal space, the flagship Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has a built-in battery capacity upgraded from 4,400 mAh to 5,000 mAh while maintaining a weight of 215g. It is also equipped with a 200-megapixel main lens and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens combination, significantly enhancing battery life and shooting capabilities.
