Google has found a fun Easter egg way to display the weather in Android Auto! In the recently released version of Android Auto 17.6, it was discovered that there is a new weather information display design. The biggest highlight is an animated raccoon named “Jimothy”. According to the latest version of the code and functional testing content, Google is trying to use this popular raccoon to display real-time temperature and weather conditions on the car screen in a more lively way. However, it is still in the experimental stage and has not yet determined when it will be officially launched.
Judging from the current test content, Jimothy will appear above the music information card in the Android Auto Coolwalk interface, displaying the current temperature through animated movement, such as displaying 25 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the background of the music card will also change according to weather conditions, such as adding rainy weather visual effects when it rains, so that drivers can quickly grasp the current weather.
However, there is still a lot of room for improvement in the current design. Due to the small size of the raccoon, the animation and background changes may distract driving attention, and the actual information recognition is also questioned, so Google may continue to adjust the interface and display methods.
In fact, Android Auto has tried to add exclusive weather information cards in the past, but due to the limitations of the car screen space, the Coolwalk interface only provided weather cards on some vertical screens after its launch, and it has not yet fully supported horizontal screens. In the past, Android Auto also placed weather information on the status bar, and now Google seems to be hoping to bring back the weather function in a new, more visual way. At present, Raccoon Weather is still a test function, and it has not yet been determined whether it will be officially added to Android Auto.
