Google’s new generation flagship Pixel 11 series has officially launched and is expected to be launched on August 20. After the new phone was released, it also received polarizing reviews. The Pixel 11 series is equipped with the new Tensor G6 chip, which uses TSMC’s improved 3nm process. Another noteworthy change is that the modem chip finally bids farewell to Samsung and is instead provided by MediaTek.
Google Tensor chips have been criticized a lot in the past, and modem performance is one aspect that is often criticized. Although last year’s Tensor G5 was Google’s first chip that was completely designed in-house and manufactured by TSMC, the modem continued to use Samsung’s solution. This year’s Pixel 11 series, Google has finally replaced it with a MediaTek modem. The official website directly emphasizes that “the new data chip is more stable, faster, and more power-saving.”
In the past, Samsung modems have received a lot of criticism due to issues such as performance, power consumption, and overheating. Therefore, the Pixel 11 series’ switch to MediaTek this time is also regarded by the outside world as an important improvement. As for how much the actual network connection, battery life and temperature control can be improved, we still have to wait for actual testing after the new machine is launched to know the true story.
