According to a well-known digital blogger, HONOR is currently testing a high-end main lens sensor called OVB0D in the laboratory. This 200-megapixel sensor is expected to steadily improve the shooting capabilities of mobile phones. Although it has not yet been determined whether this new lens will be installed on the upcoming Magic 9 series or other high-end models for the first time, it is widely expected that it will become an important configuration of HONOR’s future flagship mobile phones.
This OVB0D flagship sensor is developed based on the 22nm process technology. It has a 1/1.1-inch image format, which means that the lens can receive more light, and its performance in low-light environments will be enhanced, while also creating a natural depth of field effect. In addition, OVB0D is equipped with second-generation dual conversion gain (DCG) and lateral overflow integrating capacitor (LOFIC) technology. The addition of this technology allows the lens to still properly handle the dynamic range when facing high-contrast light source environments, and uses advanced multi-frame processing algorithms to effectively reduce image sticking problems.

In terms of dealing with complex light sources, OVB0D has a full-well capacity of 400K electrons, which can preserve the detail level of bright and dark parts without cropping high-brightness environment images. Coupled with the assistance of the Bayer color filter array, the color reproduction and processing of images will be more accurate. The news also pointed out that in addition to testing the main lens, HONOR is also evaluating a new generation of telephoto lens solutions. If this new image combination is finally implemented in the Magic 9 series, which is expected to be launched in October this year, it will bring a competitive shooting experience to the market.
