Google unearths more development evidence about Pixel 11a. (Picture/official website, this is Pixel 10a)
Google has confirmed that it will release the new generation Pixel 11 series on August 13, Taiwan time. However, the new phone has not yet been officially unveiled, but clues about next year’s new Pixel phone have been revealed in advance.
When foreign media Android Authority analyzed the Google Phone App Beta version APK code, they found a list of internal development codenames for the Pixel 11 series. A total of 5 codenames appeared, namely cubs, grizzly, kodiak, yogi and formosan. Among them, the first four codenames have already been confirmed to correspond to Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold respectively. Therefore, the one that attracts attention is “Formosan”.
Pixel 11 internal codename reappears
Foreign media believe that “Formosan” is the development code name of the next-generation mid-range phone Pixel 11a. In fact, this name was revealed as early as May this year, and now it appears again in the Google Phone App code, adding new evidence to the development work of Pixel 11a.
At present, Google Phone App has not revealed any more information, nor does it have any content related to specifications or new features. However, the internal codename has appeared in the official code, which means that Google has begun to lay out the next generation of Pixel products, and does not even rule out entering a later development stage.
When will Pixel 11a be released?
As for when Pixel 11a will debut, you can refer to Google’s release rhythm in recent years. Pixel 10a was released in February this year and officially went on sale in March. Therefore, it is estimated that Pixel 11a is also expected to be unveiled between February and March 2027.
It is worth mentioning that these codenames did not appear directly in the Google Phone App interface, but after the researchers disassembled the beta version APK code, they discovered that ordinary users would not see these contents when using the App normally.
