Apple’s new generation Apple Watch Series 12 is expected to be released in September. According to current news, this update may be just a minor routine facelift. The main upgrade is focused on the new generation of processors, and other specification information is still quite limited. However, the latest news points out that Apple is expected to bring surprises in the “strap”.
Tipster Kosutami said that Apple Watch Series 12 may launch a strap with a new built-in sensor, and the sensor will be directly integrated into the silicone strap through injection molding technology. Limited by current manufacturing technology, this design is currently only suitable for silicone materials, and watch straps made of other materials are still unable to carry this sensor. However, the actual function of this sensor is still unclear at this stage.
In fact, this is not the first time Apple has reported related news. Over the years, Apple has applied for several patents related to integrating sensors into watch bands, but so far, these technologies have not been actually applied to commercial products.
On the other hand, since the accuracy of Kosutami’s past revelations has been mixed, it is recommended to take this news with a grain of salt at this stage.
It is worth noting that another whistleblower, Vadim Yuryev, later added that Apple is redesigning the magnetic strap of Apple Watch. In the future, it may launch a new strap with Pogo Pin (spring pin) connector, which is powered by the watch and sold separately as an accessory. One of them is rumored to have a blood glucose monitoring function; but he did not disclose when it will be launched, nor which generation of Apple Watch will be first used.
