When establishing new relationships, social media and instant messaging software accounts have become the first business card for modern people; however, like WhatsApp, which used mobile phone numbers as account identification in the past, it may not be appropriate to hand them over to strangers carelessly in an age where privacy is paramount.

The good news is that WhatsApp announced today that it will open the “user name” function in the next few months. At the time of publication of this article, you can log in to your WhatsApp account on the iOS / Android platform to reserve a user name.

Testing the iOS / Android platform WhatsApp has confirmed that reservations can be made. The system will display a “User Name Coming Soon” pop-up display and provide a link for users to directly enter the reservation page.

Even if there is no relevant display in the system, WhatsApp users can still click “Settings > Account > User Name” in the setting options to enter the “User Name” reservation page.

Users can choose their own WhatsApp account name, and after entering it, the system will automatically determine whether it can be used (if it has the same name as another user), or they can import the account name from Facebook or Instagram.
