With the official release of Android 17, Google is also bringing a better gaming experience to foldable phones. Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be one of the first phones to be upgraded.
In Android 17, folding phones will have a new exclusive 50:50 game interface configuration. When the phone is unfolded, the upper half of the inner screen is used to display the game screen, and the lower half becomes a dynamic virtual game controller. By arranging the game screen and operation area on the upper and lower sides of the screen respectively, players can not only enjoy a larger game screen, but also gain more space for virtual button operation.
Similar control methods have appeared on some folding phones in the past, and now Google has chosen to integrate them directly into the Android system to further enhance the gaming experience of folding phone users. However, although the new foldable phone game mode has been included in Android 17, it will not be officially launched until the next few months. In other words, even if you upgrade to Android 17, it is not available immediately.

Google also stated that if players prefer physical controllers, Android 17 also adds a native controller remapping (Controller Remapping) function, which can directly reconfigure the controller buttons in the system without relying on third-party tools or built-in game settings. It is applicable to both wired controllers and Bluetooth controllers.
In addition, Android 17 also further improves the memory cleaning mechanism. By releasing system resources more efficiently, it can reduce the chance of frame drops and freezes during high-definition games, making the game run more smoothly.
