Many smartphone manufacturers, including Apple and Samsung, have been absorbing the cost impact of rising memory chip prices through internal optimization and cutting other operating expenses. However, in the face of rising RAM costs, it seems difficult for Samsung to continue to absorb this potential price increase pressure on its own.
According to the latest reports from Greek media, Samsung is planning to raise prices for some mobile phone models in the European market starting from June this year. Among them, the price of the Galaxy S series, which has attracted much market attention, as well as the folding screen flagships Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, is expected to increase by about 100 euros. It is unclear whether this price adjustment will be limited to basic capacity models, but it is widely expected that the pricing of high-end storage capacity versions will inevitably see corresponding increases.
In fact, I believe that passing on the high cost of RAM to consumers will not be Samsung’s unique market strategy. Many market analysts have already warned that due to the global memory shortage, the overall pricing of smartphones in the second half of this year will generally show an upward trend. For users who intend to upgrade to a new phone in the short term, they may need to set aside more budget for the purchase of a new phone. (Source:techmaniacs.gr/)
