Xiaomi today announced the launch of two new smart home appliances in the Hong Kong market, namely Mijia washer and dryer 9kg and Mijia front-loading washing machine 9kg. In view of the space constraints of Hong Kong’s living environment, the new washing machine maintains the existing drum size while having a narrower and thinner body design than the previous generation to cater to the home layout needs of different families.
In terms of body design and capacity, the new Mijia 9kg washer and dryer adopts a front-loading drum design, with a body depth of only 535mm. Although the size has been reduced, it still has a built-in large drum of 525 cubic mm and provides a washing capacity of 9 kg and a drying capacity of 6 kg. This 2-in-1 model provides an alternative for those who need clothes drying capabilities but are limited by space, eliminating the need for a separate clothes dryer. Another 9kg Mijia front-loading washing machine that debuted at the same time, except that it does not have a drying function, its appearance design, washing performance, operation methods and maintenance conditions are exactly the same as the washer-dryer version.
As part of the smart home appliance ecosystem, the 9kg Mijia washer and dryer comes with more than 30 exclusive laundry modes, including a 59-minute quick wash and dry mode for daily synthetic clothing.
For personal care and hygiene, the machine is equipped with a sanitation program that uses high-temperature steam to penetrate deep into clothing fibers, providing up to 99.99% sterilization and virus removal effects, and can remove 100% dust mites. To ensure the cleanliness inside the machine, the product is equipped with a stainless steel drying drum, nano-antibacterial door gasket, as well as high-temperature drum cleaning and automatic door spray flushing functions. In terms of operation, in addition to controlling the phone through the color touch display screen, users can also connect to the Mi Home App for remote operation, and support Google Assistant voice control and system OTA upgrades.
In terms of selling price and release details, the suggested retail price of the 9kg Mijia washer and dryer is set at $3,099, while the suggested retail price of the 9kg Mijia front-loading washing machine is $2,699. Both prices include delivery and installation services. The two new phones will be officially launched at 12:00 noon on May 29 at all Mi Home direct stores, exclusive stores, Xiaomi’s official website and major retailers in Hong Kong.
In addition, Xiaomi is now launching an early bird pre-sale discount. From 12 noon on May 25 to 11:59 am on May 29, consumers who pay a $50 deposit on Xiaomi’s official website can purchase the above two washing machines at a discounted total price of $2,999 and $2,599 respectively. Both products provide 2-year full machine and 12-year motor maintenance services.
