Google recently officially unveiled Gemini Intelligence, which will transform Android into a smart system so that AI can proactively provide help on mobile phones. Interestingly, the first mobile phone that can use this technology is probably not the Google Pixel, but Samsung’s upcoming folding phones Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8.
According to Google’s recent announcement, Gemini Intelligence will be launched for the first time on new Galaxy and Pixel phones this summer, but the specific time and priority were not disclosed. According to Korean media “Sedaily”, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, which will be launched in July, will not only be equipped with the latest One UI 9 system, but will also cooperate with Google Gemini Intelligence.
As for the Galaxy S26 series, the One UI 9 system is currently being tested simultaneously, and the Gemini Intelligence system is expected to be added later. In addition, Google is expected to directly build Gemini Intelligence into the Pixel 11 launched in the summer.
It should be noted that not all models can support Gemini Intelligence. Google has extremely high hardware requirements, such as flagship chips, 12GB memory, support for AI CORE, and more importantly, Gemini Nano v3, which basically makes mobile phones before the end of 2025 out of the question. Taking Google as an example, only the Pixel 10 series is eligible.
What is Gemini Intelligence?
Gemini Intelligence is the core function of Android 17. It can realize “automatic execution of multi-step tasks across apps” on mobile phones. It can actively perform tasks in multiple apps according to user habits, such as adding a shopping list in a note app to the shopping cart in one second; taking a photo of a scenic spot, you can ask Gemini to find relevant itineraries on the travel platform and make reservations. It also supports smarter voice-to-text input methods, “Autofill” functions, etc.
