I have the Galaxy S23 here and it has the new Android 15 update based on One UI 7.
Today, I’ll be showing you how to gain root access to this phone, and any other Samsung Galaxy device that has this version of Android.

Requirements
Before we can begin, though, we first need to have some things setup ahead of time.
For example, you can’t root this phone or any other Samsung Galaxy device until you unlock its bootloader.
This process is actually blocked on certain devices though, and it can be different depending on which phone or tablet you have.
And sadly, you cannot root your Android smartphone using this method if your bootloader is currently locked.
With that done, Windows users will then need to download a program called Odin.
Those with Linux can still follow along, but they’ll need to use a program called Heimdall instead.
Either way, I’ll have download links and setup guides for these in the video description below.
You’re also going to need to download the same version of the firmware that you currently have installed on your phone.
This firmware needs to be stored on your PC, extracted, and then you want to move the file that begins with the letters AP over to your phone or tablet
Then, before we can actually root this device, we need to install the latest version of Magisk
Rooting One UI 7 with Magisk
With Magisk installed, let’s go ahead and launch the application so we can begin to patch our firmware file.
So we’re going to tap on the Install button up here.
And now you will want to choose the select and patch a file option
Let’s browse through your internal storage and then select the firmware file that begins with the letters AP.
Tell Magisk to patch the file, and after a little bit of waiting, the application will extract its contents, inject the Magisk binaries into the correct image files.
And then package everything back up for you.
You’re going to get a file labeled magisk_patched with some letters and numbers after.
This newly created file needs to be transferred back to your PC.
But before we can do that, we’re going to need our phone to be in download mode.
I’m going to put the phone to the side while keeping it plugged into the PC so that we can setup Odin.
as we turn out attention to Odin, you should see the program say that a phone has been added
If odin recognizes your smartphone or tablet, though, you can then start loading in the firmware files
when you’re ready, click that start button within odin and leave the phone alone while it installs the proper file.
when it’s done, your phone will reboot on its own, and you’ll actually see it reboot again
after failing to boot into Android twice, you’ll be brought to this factory data reset screen
confirm you want to erase your data
and then wait for the device to reboot into one ui 7 based on android 15
set the phone or tablet back up
And then look for the Magisk icon within your app drawer
it’ icon will likely look different since it’s just a stub of the Magisk app
and you’ll need to launch the app so it can download the fill apk file and update it for you
conclusion
So there’s a lot of moving parts here. but as long as you followed along with me, you’ll have a fully functional Samsung galaxy device with Magisk installed for root access
From here on out, you’ll need to manually install firmware updates with odin or Heimdall.
THEN you’ll have the latest update installed with root and you’ll get to keep all of your data

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975U). It has Snapdragon and One UI 4.1 / Android 12. Anyways I am trying to unlock the bootloader and when I enable Developer Options OEM Unlocking doesn't show up. I tried turning on WiFi and checking for Software Update then checking back Developer Options for it but still nothing. And when I press the POWER Button and Volume Up + Volume Down Button it either goes into Safe Mode or a screen comes up with yellow words saying "Selected SD card by your key input" and nothing happens.
My question is: What can I do to unlock bootloader so I can root the SM-G975U so that i can install custom ROM one UI 7?
It is important to download firmware with exact same model, but not region. For example I have s21fe (sm-g990b), so I installed firmware for particularly sm-g990b but instead of my own country's csc I chose Ireland (I live in caucasus region) and had no problems
will rooting an old phone improve its battery life and make it feel faster
Great video and thanks for the step by step guide to rooting the one UI 7, its been awhile since I rooted my phone. Back then superSU and TWRP for recovery was the must haves in order to root your phone correctly. So those 2 things are no longer needed or it depends on the phone?
