Is iPadOS 26 desktop mode better than Samsung DeX? Here’s the Truth.

   What would you prefer, Samsung Dex or iPadOS 26 / Windows apps?

   I don't use regular keyboards I use column staggered ergonomic split keyboards so it's a dead weight to me (and the bottom of laptop sticking out from stand is also annoying), the only thing I care about is replacing regular laptop with screen only device. Neither of those do that. I could literally just use a phone with good cpu as my pc if I could connect display, keyboard and mouse but I'd need to run my coding IDE and docker. The real options here a minisforum v3 (cheaper but thinner and unavailable anymore) and asus x13 flow. If you're just surfing web it really doesn't matter what you use.

   Dex can do 4k 60Hz easily without Heat. Just have to use Display port dock.

   Nice to have both available. I use DeX all the time and will do the same with iPadOS more now, thanks to the changes in 26.

   tbh, i don't agree that iPadOS is bettter. iPad is limited when you need to get "real work" done. However, that also depends on what your line of work is. My workflow requires some extensions to do some parts of my work and there is nothing on iPad OS , in terms of browser support that does that as they are ALL essentially Apple Web Kit. Whereas, on Android, the now discontinued Kiwi browser had somewhat good extension support and Mozilla definitely wins. I would say, in terms of apps, iPad is better for something like slack, but ironically, zoom is better on Android. feels closer to the desktop tier version than what is on the iPad.
   Also, for samsung dex, you can run on 4k, you just need the good lock app. in fact, anything extra good is on good lock. I do not understand why Samsung doesn't have the options baked in already but it's like windows and powertoys, useful and better than any of their AI stuff they try to give. FYI, i have an iPad Air and a Samsung tablet and I gravitate more to the Samsung tablet, despite the iPad being more powerful in terms of hw. If i was a boomer in tech, i probably would use the iPad only.

    Samsung is keeping Dex from making it big by not including other Wireless Video protocols. They currently only use MiraCast, which is outdated, not supported by most. Good news: rummers have it that future release might include Google Air or another protocol.

    Samsung will never have access to the app ecosystem so they're always at a disadvantage in terms of improvement and innovation. Google really gotta step it up

    Tbh I prefer iPadOS 26 cuz I don’t have any Samsung devices at all
    But for me I like iPadOS more, I really like that new interface, new Mac-like features and feel. But Samsung dex is cool too, but not for my work.

    being, mostly, a windows user, i prefer dex (also screen+ and magic desktop)…
    besides, my ipad 7 will not have ipados26… so i am not excited about it 😂 (my macbook stayed on ventura as well 😅)

    I prefer apple always. Had used DeX for half year before and they share same issue which the os itself is based on gesture not cursor and keyboard. You never capable to use it like normal pc/mac.

    the dex on one ui 8 tablet will have same feature with ipad stage manager (the app window will seamless when moving between tablet and monitor) Since they integrated new dex with classic dex, (the classic dex was only designed for one monitor use since it was introduce as extended use of samsung S8 phone in 2017 when connect to monitor, so that's why it cannot moving window into different display)

    I have multiple apple object MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone pro Max, Apple Watch, Apple TV, AirPod,… I‘be waiting for YEARS the dex version on iPhone. NOT on the iPad. I’m fed up with with their strategy. They’re dragging their feet. They don’t want to kill the iPad market with the des on iPhone
    I will go with Samsung G fold + Dex and try to ditch the iPhone AND iPad

    What happens if the tablet is already in Dex mode and you add a monitor? Surely it stays in Dex. Are you saying it goes back to Android mode?

    I think the mode it was in was the phone Dex mode which is always only an external monitor ask you wouldn't want Dex on a phone.

    Makes me wonder if I should go iPad or just get Samsung. I'm an Android user but not been into iPhones or iOS just yet.
