   Note: You must have headphones plugged in to see External Headphones in the list, or if you don't have headphones choose MacBook Speakers (see 5:44). If you don't see the audio icon at the top (🔊 or 🎧), click the icon that looks like two toggle switches, then click Sound.    Multiple people have asked about mixing a mic into the recording—for that, you may want to check out OBS Studio instead of Quicktime, so you can mix the audio levels together easier.

   this is currently not working for macOS11 anymore, since now the only thing they have is an app, and you gotta have a newer mac version to download!!

   It used to work for me when I did those exact steps, but now it isn't working. I'll see if I can fix it and what the cause is.

   the blackhole site does not provide info to send me the download. there is no name, email, etc white box as shown on your video.

    I originally selected 16ch, however that was a disaster, The drifting and over talk was horrid. I uninstalled and installed the 2ch, however the sound of my macbook air M3 speakers has more than just 2 ch I would think as my recordings sound as it they are only coming out of one speaker.

    Hey – I used this method before and it worked perfectly.
    However I try again now and I get an error message that says 'Quicktime player encountered an error while recording your screen. Try using the Screenshot app instead'.

    I have checked Quicktime player as giving permission to screen record in System Preferences.

    I've no idea why it's not working. Can you help please? Thanks so much.

    Hi Jay – thanks a lot for doing this video!! I was able to get one screen recording done fine, but all the other times, the audio is coming through as mono – only on my left earpiece… any idea what may be wrong and how I can fix it?

    Quick Question. What if the Speaker bottom at the top of the screen isn't there?

    When i tried to do the audio midi setup there was no "external headphones" option for the multi-output device. I've followed every step perfectly and I'm not really sure if I had messed up somewhere earlier in the process. (I am on Mac 12.7.6 if that changes anything).     External Headphones not appearing in Multi Output Devices. They are plugged into the 1/8th inch audio jack.

    I was so hopeful this would work but you lost me at the Blackhole audio midi setup. I'm running iOS 10.13 which looks nothing like your screen. I can see BlackHole 2ch but I can't add the other devices you talk about. So, I'm stuck. Ah well.
