In this video, I show you how to stop background processes on your Mac using System Settings, Activity Monitor, and Terminal.
You’ll learn how to open Login Items and Extensions, turn off apps that run automatically in the background, use Activity Monitor to check which apps are using the most CPU, memory, energy, disk, and network resources, and force quit apps that you do not need.
I also show a basic Terminal method for advanced users, including how to view loaded background services using launchctl list and how to stop apps using the killall command. This guide is useful if your Mac feels slow, too many apps are running in the background, or you want better control over startup and background activity on macOS.
