Panel Supply Chain Research DSCC CEO Ross Young once again released his predictions about future iPhone display design this week. In addition to unveiling new changes in the iPhone 18 Pro series screens, he also pointed out that Apple plans to launch key upgrades in 2027, the 20th anniversary of the launch of the iPhone, and the time point for truly realizing the “full-screen iPhone” model will fall in 2030.
Ross Young quoted supply chain information that unlike the statement that the iPhone 18 Pro will open a hole in the upper left corner next year, he believes that Apple will move some Face ID components under the screen, so the new phone will be equipped with a “narrower” Dynamic Island instead of just retaining one front lens hole.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman also pointed out that Apple intends to reduce the dynamic island design, which means that the iPhone 18 Pro will reduce the area that occupies screen space while retaining some of the Face ID functions.
Regarding the 20th anniversary model of iPhone in 2027, Young believes that the phone will still retain a reduced dynamic island, which is different from what Gurman calls a “completely open-hole display.” At the same time, Ross Young also predicts that by 2028, Apple will fully hide the Face ID component under the screen, and will only retain one front lens opening at that time.
