That 170Ghz mèmory bandwidth ONLy applies to the 24 and 32GB models. You're not the only reviewer to skip over that fact.

the m4 mac mini with 24GB and 256gb of storage sold out the same day I finally made up my mind to buy it to use for studying Industrial Design. So pissed I didnt buy it earlier. 900 dollars for 256/16 is crazy

Crazy hardware. I think you miss the point that the higher end models are really aimed at businesses who need workstation class performance. When time to product delivery is important, and when isn't it for most businesses (especially startups and specialised consultancies), then having highly paid engineers, scientists, data scientists, researchers, coders or video editors sat around waiting for their workstation to do job X multiple times a day, is impacting delivery. Which is part of the reason (along with support and certified hardware) is why businesses can justify workstation prices. If you go on Dell or Lenovo and spec up a mid range workstation with a mid grade Xeon CPU and mid grade GPU it can easily be £15k-£20k (even without a crazy memory upgrade).

Well, these look pretty good, but my old, faithful, good price, Mini 4 pro/24/1 Tb is still humming along and doing all I need it to do. I checked and could get over $1,000 for a trade in but think I'll just keep it for a while. I may spend the money I save on a new monitor, but the Mac sirens on the shore are singing loudly about the M6!!!
I don't know if 2 nm means the cores are that much more powerful. They can run cooler, but Apple has also packed more stuff onto the die, so it's hard to say how much faster each core will be without independent benchmarking. Apple loves to sell us on the notion that each M-series step up in number means some massive performance boost, but in reality it's just a slightly faster Arm CPU with other stuff tacked on. If you want to do something GPU intensive, such as play games, you'll likely want that much more expensive M5 Pro with its many more GPU cores. I learned these lessons the hard way upgrading from M1 to M4.
I doubt gaming would be too great on an M6, based on my experience with the base M4. It ran hot with WoW Classic without delivering great performance, and I'm not surprised given the number of cores. You'd likely have to step up to the Pro chip to run games halfway decently. But really, nothing beats a PC for gaming. At least Linux is perfectly viable for most games these days, so you don't have to use Microslop.
Pretty soon Mac will catch up to AMD’s 2025 chips. Go Apple and Apple fan gushing!

im still using my M1 mac mini (upgraded it to 512gb storage).
still works fine but there are times that using it with microsoft excel keeps on "loading" because autosave in on. 😅 my excel file is sitting a 70mb 😂
I've been a Windows user since I started using computers, but I love iPhone so I decided to give Mac a go. The mini seemed like a good idea but I wanted the M5 chip, so now I've ordered an M6 mini with 32GB memory. Hoping its good/worth it as its a large chunk of change and won't be able to get a new PC now lol

having a base model in 2027 as we are nearing with just 155gb of memory and 256 gb SDD is pathetic. Yes they are still reasonable good valuue for the money considdered the memory situation is utter insane. But really serious users will want 32gb ram and at least 1tb as base disk And personly I would say 2tb is more in line for serious use for like Music or Video work. And give people at least 1 or better 2 TB 5.0 ports
you can't use the M6 for Ai clustering it only has thunderbolt 4. no rdma.
