I tested out the Apple Studio Display and the XDR version. They are great displays. They are also very expensive. SO what other 5k displays are out there? Meet the ASUS Pro Art 5K display. It does a lot of things right but it does cut some corners to keep that price down.

Did you put your smaller screen in front of the ugly Asus logo? I would too.
Can you review the ASUS ProArt Display OLED PA27UCDMR or PA32UCDMR? Those are 4K QD-OLED WITH 240Hz refresh rate and they look amazing with the metal frame and finish. I am considering the 27" version.
This is the display I’m getting in the meantime. End goal is a Studio Display and when I can swing one I will get one.
This is one of the monitor’s I’m considering for my Mac + PS5 setup, as well as the LG GM950 5K miniLED that seems to be the closest to the Studio Display XDR. Asus announced a ProArt 4K120Hz OLED for 600$ which seems almost too good to be true, very curious about that one but the risk of burn-in kinda makes me reticent
I love Apple products, but there are just some things I won't even consider overpaying for and the Studio Display is one of them. I mean, of course it's a great looking and functional monitor, but to have to pay extra and I mean EXTRA for a tilting stand and then you have to take the dang thing into Apple if you ever have to remove the power cord – c'mon man! That said, if Apple would make that same monitor without the fancy speakers (I have my own speakers that I run on my workstation) and remove the camera that I would never use, they could almost cut that price in half and gain more market share in that space. Soooo, all that to say, I'm going with the ASUS ProArt PA27JCV 27" 5K HDR Monitor. Oh great video by the way.
How does this compare with the Benq?
28 euro NexiGo N60 1080P it was a lot better than my macbook pro m1 pro webcam. just incase you need camera guys, would be nice addition to the proart display 😀
I am using MacBook Pro M1 14"and Asus ProArt PA27JCV, what monitor setting I should use to match my Mac for Photography use, and color match ? And how to set the monitor brightness to match my Mac?
I still dont get why people are ok with spending 3K on a 60Hz display, but when a display does not support the complete color range with more colors than your eye can even see, with perfect gamma and colors but has a very high refresh rate, its considered bad
What speakers are those and do they sound good?

The Studio is for Apple.
The Asus is for everything.
Asus is functional and focused on the essentials.
The Studio is more versatile—suitable for all purposes.
Asus also excels in design and functionality.
The matte vs glossy problem is real. Glossy appears better, but it's not accurate. Especially if you're working on colour critical things for print, matte is king.
Just wish it did not look so hideous with that ugly logo plastered across a gigantic bezel.

A few items for some users that they may appreciate when considering our ProArt monitors and specifically the PA27JCV ( the PA32QCV is the 32" 6K ) and we have multiple OLED models including full metal body 27" and 32" 4K models.
Warranty
We did not reduce thew quality of our product and feel confident it is design and performance and it is backed by an industry leading 5-year warranty with registration compared to Apple which is a 1-year warranty.
The monitor offers
PiP/PbP support great for running two inputs on the same display, think a laptop and desktop.
AutoKVM, this means you can have peripherals connected to the monitor and have it switch your peripherals to the secondary input
All of our recent displays on ProArt have had an update allowing for matched apple color profiling. after the firmware update you can select the Apple P3 mode which will match colors to apple specific color standard. Note, all ProArt displays are always factory calibrated with an integrated color report in the OSD.
Lastly while we have physical OSD display controls, both Windows and Apple users can use our Display Widget Center software ( avail for Windows and MacOS ) which lets you access and control the OSD in the OS via your keyboard and your mouse.
Yeah, but this is Asus. An Apple product will serve you for years and Asus will break just after warranty expires
Edge lit with terrible viewing angles and backlight bleeding. So it's cheaper because it's worth less.
Does the neo performance falter when outputting 5k. Can it even do it?
How hard would it be to have a remote control for the monitor controls? NOT a phone app though. Just a simple IR remote.

I've had a ProArt 27 for about a year. The build quality is cheap (I have not owned an Apple monitor) and it takes a strangely long time to wake up with the MacBook Pro (I haven't had this one attached to a PC.) It's also crashed and required a hard reboot.
I want to like the 5K monitors alternatives to get one but, companies still in 2026 like to put a huge logo and buttons on the front on the displays, please don't!. I been waiting since the first 5k apple display for alternatives to buy, years later no one catch up 😔
I bought this monitor three weeks ago for around £600 on sale in the UK. I absolutely love it; the P3 m mode profile matches my MacBook Pro 16 M3 screen perfectly it's almost identical . I do wildlife photography for fun, and I really love this thing ❤. The speakers are quite poor, I always wear headphones or use my Wonderboom 4, which is okay, but the picture quality is worth it. Plus, one cable setup is a great bonus 👌🏼.

Amazon says this monitor is frequently returned. It evidently dies within a few months of use. Wonder if it's worth the risk?
Would definitely be interesting to see you tackle a “gaming” display, and seeing just how accurate it CAN get for creative workflows. There are, in fact, some gaming displays that can display around 100% sRGB, and come with a factory-calibrated sRGB mode with a certification and everything. However, I’m not sure how viable that is for the typical color workflow for design. Could make for a fun video
All monitors should be on a monitor arm anyway. Stands are useless to me.

I had a 4K ProArt 32" with my Windows/Mac setup. It looked exactly the same as this unit, including the stand. The panel was good, but the build quality was poor. The plastic creaked when I touched the controls, it gave me the ick. The joystick was tiny and fragile, it broke off when I moved the monitor and bumped it into the back of my chair. Thank goodness the settings were already adjusted and it also allowed me to change the input with another key.
I dare Asus and other brands to come up with something similar to Apple Studio display at a lower price – now that would be real competition.
So long as this monitor is actually well built and doesn't have the same issues i've had with other ProArt monitors. My current monitor is a ProArt and it makes a horrible whining sound, has some weird plastic thing covering the HDMI port which means you need a thinner adapter, and even then i've noticed the input shield is live and touching it directly makes sparks. I have the same issue where I can NEVER seem to get the monitor to be completely level or head on.
