For high-end editing on DaVinci and Adobe Premier and 3-D programs like C4D or Maya and Ai work, full Adobe Suite, Full Native Instruments. Basically a full video/music Production Mac, you will need the Mac Studio Ultra with a minimum of 2TB SSD and minimum 96 GB ram
This is if you work and make a living. You need multiple NLE’s such as DaVinci Resolve Adobe Premier etc etc multiple DAW stations such as Logic , Pro Tools, Ableton Live

Should be noted that super cores in M5 are rebranded performance cores. The performance cores in the three newer M5 chips are at the level between the efficiency cores and the newly rebranded super cores.
just pre-orderd the Base M5 Ultra with 30C/64C 96GB but upgraded SSD to 2TB. this is replacing my M1 Ultra (20c/48c 64GB 2TB) and will be using it with my 2 new Apple Studio XDR displays. I nearly went with the 36c/80c but the small performance gain wasnt worth the extra £1300 here in the UK.

When it comes to Apple Computers the important consideration is to determine what a person needs and what Apple Computer and Computer configuration will meet that need. It sounds like Apple Mac Studio with the M5 Ultra will only be needed by a few customers that are doing very high end work. When it comes to the Apple Computer I am using, I am using a 2022 Apple Mac Studio with the base M1 Max, 32 gb of memory and one terabyte of storage. To this day it is a very powerful machine for what I am doing.
The base model Ultra is actually a good deal as it covers all the bases compared to the maxed Max. Just wish I could get the extra 128 instead of 96 for AI. The 512GB is going to be insanely priced.
Waiting for RTX spark as Comfyui doesn’t work right in Mac.

The cpu core count explanation in this video is incorrect. Apple marketing caused this confusion by renaming performance cores as super cores, and reusing the term performance cores for a newly-created “mid” core type.
Ultimately, this model has fewer of the highest performance cores as the last model. Apple presumes that will be fine, because the mid cores wlll make up for it with better power/heat envelope. And they may very well be right. We have to test it against many workloads, but Apple does have more data than anyone on how much each core type gets used.

Planning to pick up M5 Ultra in base configuration around oct-nov… as my first Mac, for the next least 5+ or even more years.

Wow, can we just acknowledge the fact of how fast the Apple M processors have developed. Just 6 years in and still leading the way.
Having a way to overpowered but priced at the level I had sat aside M2 Ultra I am not going to upgrade my Mac for a considerable future. Might spend my money on a HDR capable screen at some point in the future but a new Mac is a few years of at least.
